Can we all talk about Giguere for a moment?

Oh my God, JS Giguere's furious goalie rant is probably the best (only) good thing to come out of this season. That sort of furious, passionate energy is so refreshing to see and so different from the passivity the team has shown otherwise. Is it PC? Probably not. But it's honest, and that's a glorious thing. It's demanding accountability beyond ( Read more... )

Good for him, telling it like it is. Dude's got balls. It's nice to hear a straight-forward, honest opinion come out of a hockey player's mouth instead of all the usual cliches. So many players just seem so apathetic these days, it's sad.

(I've wondered about the French Canadian initial thing, too!!! My Komets have one now [JM, short for Jean-Michel], but a few years back we had FIVE at one time [KJ, JP, JC, JR & JF]...it was so confusing!)

Man, right? I love how in the post game interviews the basic consensus was "The dude said what we needed to hear, and he's someone who deserves to say what he said". That's ~harsher than I've ever heard Roy get, even, but you can tell he's passionate and extremely competitive. Like you said, so nice to hear straight and honest talk from him.

(Right? PA, JS, do your families actually call you that, or Jean-Sebastien, or Jean, or what?)

It's good stuff. I like the we're-all-like-family attitude to teammates, but sometimes your family are the best people to take a boot to your ass when you need it. Maybe it happens a lot in private, but sometimes it's just good to KNOW someone's doing the scary talk.

It's nice to hear, really. There was a lot of 'airing dirty laundry', but I don't think he meant to do that at all - he was calling out a general lassitude and didn't focus on any one guy. He just said "this sucks, we're embarrassing, get your head in there" and that sort of courage to come out and say it where everyone will hear is refreshing. It shows leadership.
