Okay, so work has been overly hectic this year, which means that at the end of November I found myself with 10 open vacation days left. But you know what? We have memories. And even more - we can not-talk for years, and then, when we do meet and talk, we can do that like all those years of separation didn't happen, we can just go on from where we stopped. Don't you agree? 😊

In the end, only the memories remain, and that makes it bittersweet.
(I'm very glad though that I have a lot of old favourites saved. So whenever the mood strikes, I can go and read them. That's pretty neat.)

It's amazing to me, too, that it's been 20 years since the movies came out and we were all in the heyday of the fandom. I don't write LOTR fic currently, but sometimes the nostalgia hits and I pull out old WIPs and wonder if I can get back into it. I'd have to try to re-read the books and re-watch the movies and re-acquaint myself with everything again, and I'm not sure that's a lightning bolt I can recapture in a bottle again, which is bittersweet, for sure.
But it's definitely fun to revisit the fandom from time to time.
