Rescuing Gunn

We got Gunn back, but not without a fight. Kennedy was true to her word, although I'm still annoyed she didn't tell us where to find him sooner. Thing is, they'd raised the alert status of the security personnel, although I find it amusing they still hadn't fixed the vampire alarms. I knew Lilah liked my little visits. Kennedy entered the main entrance of the building and sat down on the pouf at the center of the room, she looked side-long at Angel and then looked down at her army boots. Ashamed didn't even cover what she was feeling. "I'm sorry," she said, almost at a whisper.

Angel glanced over at her. He'd been looking through some of the files taken from Gunn's office, but so far he hadn't found anything but dry legal documents. "Sorry? For what, exactly?" he asked. "You helped us get Gunn out in time, I won't forget that."

Kennedy smiled lightly, keeping her eyes downcast, not at all wanting to show Angel the fear in her eyes. Or the hatred behind it. Every time she looked at him... Cordelia... Faith... she wanted to hurt them. She would get a flash, seeing herself pummeling them, cutting them, killing them...

She wasn't sure if this was something she truly felt or if it was residual from her drug usage and the time she spent working for Wolfram and Hart -not to mention her recent killing spree--. "I should have told you sooner. I wasn't sure," she sighed and ran her fingers through her hair, "I wasn't sure where my loyalties lie. If I was--I don't know. Evil, maybe?"

And I'd give up this sense of decency just to hold her in my arms again. Isn't that the funniest thing?

Setting the files aside, Angel walked around the counter and leaned back on it, his arms crossed. Seemed like she needed to get some things off her chest, and he had time.

"So, have you decided, then?" he asked. "It's a tough one--evil is usually a lot more fun."

AH! People. People are back.

The rescue mission was successful, I'm sure just as I was telling Fred it would be.
"Is everyone ok? Anybody hungry? We've still got muffins and Fred's got the first aid kit prepped!"

Angel shook his head at Andrew's enthusiasm. "I'm fine...might want to look at Wood, I think he got a little banged up."

Faith wandered into the lobby from outside, instantly stiffening up as she noticed Kennedy. She deliberately didn't say anything to the other girl, but turned to Angel. "What's goin' on? Where were all you people?"

Her ribs were still tender from her go-round with Kennedy, but she was trying not to show it.

Angel turned to Faith. "We paid another visit to Wolfram and Hart. Got a message from Gunn, and it turns out Kennedy here knew where to find him after all." He glanced between her and Kennedy, wondering if they were going to go at it again.
