Gunn seems to be okay, but he's apparently got amnesia. All the way back to the party at Buffy's house. Partly I'm relieved, it means he doesn't remember me killing him. I mean, I wasn't itching to go through that whole guilt trip again--not that I'm still not feeling guilty about it. Even if I still don't remember doing it. You know what I mean ( Read more... )

Angel was surprised--it wasn't at all what he'd thought she'd been talking about, so he didn't quite dodge out of the way, in spite of the fact that she wasn't in top form. Down he went, and rolled over with her on the hard floor before pushing himself back to his feet.

"A-ha, thought you had the jump on me there, didn't you?" he said, amusement in his voice. He took a defensive stance, watching to see what she would do next.

"'Shyeah," she replied, getting to her feet and sliding off her purple leather jacket. She rose her eyebrows as if to say 'you ready?' "You're forgettin' you're a little slow," she teased, setting her jacket aside on the floor before charging again, throwing a punch a little wide to see how he'd handle it.

Angel was ready this time. He watched her approach with a keen eye and caught her tensed arm, deflecting the blow and spinning her around before releasing her. Normally he'd have added a solid kick to the move, but he didn't want to bruise her all up for the sake of a little late night sparring. She was right, it was a little like dancing.

When she spun away, he took the opportunity to remove his own jacket and rolled up his shirt sleeves. This could be fun, too.

Now you're gettin' it, Mel thought, she planted her feet to either side of her and assessed Angel's movements before circling around him. He seemed stronger on his right side, which obviously meant he had to be right handed, so she attacked his left, hoping to keep him busy enough that he wouldn't think she'd go for his right soon after. She twisted his right arm behind his back and pulled it up, a little harder than necessary, maybe. "Say uncle," she purred in it his ear.

"Alright," Angel said, still uncertain. "You don't have to say, but if there's anything I can do to help...or maybe that I shouldn't be doing."

He let the offer hang, and just rubbed her back in what he hoped was a soothing way. He really liked Mel and he didn't want her feeling bad about anything, and he worried that his momentary slip up while he had her pinned might be behind the upset.

"'Salright," she sniffled and tried her best to compose herself. She straightened up and looked around wearily, as if seeing the room for the first time. "am a mite tired, though. Think sleeps in ordar."

"It's late," Angel agreed, watching her, looking for some clue. He gave a sigh and picked up both their jackets and the bottle of whiskey. The night had been anything but boring, he just wished it was ending on a happier note.

The walk back into the main entrance was one of complete silence, only broken by the occasional sniffling that Mel gave. She smiled weakly at Angel and leaned up to kiss him on the cheek before making her way to her room.
