Finished Clockwork Angel!!!!!!!!! FANGIRLING...and English-class like way of looking at the book.

So, I finished "Clockwork Angel", and I"m putting what I thought of it under a cut, for all those who don't care.  Also, I'm going to disect the book first, then fangirl about it.  So, enjoy:

So, let's start off with the plot of the book.

I enjoyed it...but, it just seemed so...used.  The plot was almost exactly like City of Bones execpt it took place in a diffrent time and used mostly diffrent characters.

Now, the details are diffrent...but it's pretty much about a girl who's pretty normal.  But then relizes, after meeting some shadowhunters, that she's abnormal.  She meets the romantic love intrest (Jace/Will) and later finds out something shocking about her family (Her father is evil and her brother is her love intrest/Nate was her half brother).

Though, I do give Clare some props, she had to introduce the readers to the Shadow world in both books, as Clockwork Angel could be a stand alone book.

I liked how you can already connect things, like in the end when The instute might be transfered over to the Lightwoods.  If you read City of Bones, they use to be incharge of that one, but then they got moved to New York after the Cricle insident.

Also, Will doesn't have a star on him.  Remember how Jace has one becasue his family was touched by Angels?  Well, unless it hasn't been mentinoed yet, the family hasn't been thouched...which means that WIll will probably be the one that hangs with Angels.

There's a ton of little things.  Like how Magnus is already gayer then the fourth of July.  He seems to be making gay comments already (And his line on page 243 "Black hair and blue eyes are my favoirte combination."  just made me set down the book and laugh.  If this book was read before the Mortial Series, it'd be kind of...blunt that he ends up with Alec, not that I"m complaining about that).

Next let's go on about Irony.

I found so many things ironic in this book just by reading it once.

The Herondale's and the Lightwood's hate eachother in this book.  At least, that's how it seems.  Yet, 200 years later, Alec and Jace are partners (and Alec beleives he's gay for Jace).  This amuses me to no end in this book.

Also, colors.  Clare uses hair and eye colors a lot more in this book.  Look at Tessa.  She has brown hair, which is just normal.  The irony of this?  She's probably the most abnormal character in the book.  Jem on the other hand?  White hair, white skin, colorless eyes.  Becuse of a disorder/drug addiction.  For the time period this is in...it's not that abnormal...but yet he looks strange.  Will had black hair and blue eyes, while the Lightwoods (if I remember correctly) had ligher hair.  In Mortal they seem to be switched, with Jace having the light hair, and Alec and Isabelle having darker hair.  I guess it's just the whole 'changing roles' thing.

So, off of Irony, let's talk Characters:

Tessa:  Our Main character.  I love her SO much more then Clary.  I didn't like Clary too much in book one, and she just kept getting worse and worse.  But I like Tessa's character.  She's strong willed, powerful, but doesn't know what she's doing.  She can be clever, and she's well read.  While this was really strange for the girls in her time period (We're talking Victorian England).  This just makes her character seem stronger.  She doesn't really know how to defend herself, and has to use her mind and her power she doesn't know how to control to try to survive.

Jem:  At first I thought that'd he'd be the 'Ungay Alec' of this book.  You know, quite, grumpy, hating Tessa.  Wow, totally off on that one.  I like Jem too, not as much as Alec or Jace, but I do like him.  He's got some of the Alec characteristcs, but he's not the same character.  He isn't scared for one.  Alec was scared though two and a half books.  And he was a major jackass for two and three quarters of them.  (With the other quater being spread though all three of the books).  Jem is the protector like character, but he kills things.  Alec didn't kill anything until that one greater demon.  Jem is in love with Tessa (And I'm rooting for him), and he's not afraid to show it.  Alec...well, we all know him.  But, Jem is still weaker physically yet tries harder.

Jessamine:  I thought I was going to hate her.  I thought she'd pretty much be Isabelle, execpt with a new name.  Nope again.  I acutally liked Jess...because she wasn't Isabelle.  Jess is a girl...not that Isabelle wasn't...but Izzy was... strong, and a shadowhunter.  Jess wanted to just be normal, to find a man and move away.  She's pretty much a foil for Tessa, just as Izzy started as a foil for Clary.   Tessa is strong, normal, and learns though the book that girls need to fight, and need to 'wear men's pants'.  While Jess just wants to be a girl.  (It was the opposite in Mortal, which I liked how she reversed the sitution in Infernal).

Will:...I hate this character.  So much.  Which is odd, becasue it's normally the character I'd love.  But I did love Will.  When he was named Jace and had blonde hair.  WILL AND JACE ARE THE SAME CHARACTER WITH DIFFRENT NAMES.  SAME SPEACH, SAME JOKES, SAME SAME SAME.  My god, this is the worst character in the book, becasue he's already been used.  Had I read these books first, I'd probably love WIll, and I'd hate Jace.  I don't care if they are related....they wouldn't have the same personality!  (Though, I do think it's awesome that they don't look alike.  I hate when people look 'just like their Greatx3000 grandfather/mother).  Just..>GGGGGRRRRRRRRRRRR.  HATE

Mangus:  I don't care if he was in the other seires...he's my favorite, and I'm gonna talk about him.  I liked Mortal Mangus better.  They don't seem like the same character.  He seems...calm.  He's not out there like he was in Mortal.  He's so reigned in, and serious.  I know that people (Characters) change over time...and 200 years is a long time...but I just...don't see how it's the same character.  It could just be becasue I'm so use to seeing him in glitter and...spandex'n shit....and he totally couldn't do that in this time period...but his personality seems diffrent.  He seems...mature and responsible.  He's not fun Mangus like I'm use to.  Plus, I'm having a hard time seeing him straight.  I know that he couldn't really be gay in Victorian England...but..giving him a girlfriend?  I know she's pretty much just plot device (according to rumors about book four, at least), but if she's really going to try to break up Malec, couldn't it be some random vampire that just pops up?  If Clare wrote a random vampire in CoFA as Magnus' ex, I could give her a fairish chance (I'd still want him to be with Alec)...but I arleady hate her.  Not becasue she's his girlfriend...just just left a bad impression on me.    Anyway, I don't know why...but Magnus seems to be really off in this book.  I'm hoping it'll get better eventually.

Charlotte and Henry:  Once again, I judged them.  I was sure they'd be the Lightwood parents ripoffs...once again I was wrong.  Charlotte was a strong women, like Mrs. Lightwood...but in a diffrent way.   And Henry...My god, I loved him.  He was so qurky~  He just amused me so~  Um...that's all I've got to say.

So...there were other characters...but these were the main ones I payed attention to~

Now...FANGIRLING::::

I did LOVE this booK!  I didn't like it as much as the Mortal Instrumests series...but it was written a LOT better!!!!!  How did everyone else like it?????

...so, if anyone else loves this series..What'd you think?  I need someone to talk about this book with~!
