Good luck! I know I should be cutting way back on my carbs. I'm such a carb fiend it's tough, but I also have a family history of diabetes, so I worry. There's also a family history of colon cancer, so then if I'm not getting enough fiber and eating too much meat I worry too! Gah! I don't know what I should be eating anymore.
I love my cereal and pasta as well but I've been indulging myself for so long it was time to make a move in the right direction for a change. I don't eat meat and supposedly there's more than enough fibre in fruit & veg to keep that side working normally. Who knows what's right any more. I hope I'm on the right track.
Eggs, fish, seafood, small amount of cheese, high protein veg like avocados and a lot of nuts.
I don't want to be fat or unhealthy any more. No grains on a daily basis (I'll still eat it on occasions) is a small price to pay if it gets me the results I'm after.
Husband and I are planning to do South Beach beginning in a few weeks. He's done it before and been very successful, so it can definitely work. I'm not sure how it will be for me but I'm definitely willing to give it a try. Have really let the weight thing go to far; disappointing after doing so well temporarily improving my eating habits a few years ago. I'm looking forward to the challenge--good luck to you! :)
I'd never heard of the South Beach diet so I googled it to find out more. It's pretty similar to my diet except my diet is full fat rather than reduced fat diary and doesn't allow beans & lentils (which is annoying being I'm a veggie [that eats fish]).
I understand the frustration. I lost a lot of weight about 10 years ago but it slowly went back on until I'm now the fattest I've ever been :(
All the best luck on your being a success for you and your husband.

I'd rather have diabetes than give up carbs myself though.

I'm a big believer of everything in moderation, I dont eat a carb heavy meal everyday, but might a couple of times a week.
