Part of it's this terrible weather we've been having (I'm sick of snow now, kay thanks). I woke up this morning and the sun was shining and I had a nice cup of tea and both the girlfriend and I's colds were better and I suddenly remembered that I can conquer anything.
Also I didn't have to dig out my car. That helped. You been getting the bad weather up north as well?
We had a blizzard the other day. It might as well have been Snowmageddon the way the radio and papers went on about it.
Seriously, guys. We live in one of Canada's wealthiest cities. I think well have enough snowplows and salt to go around. Plus, I'm a public transit girl, so I don't have to worry about shoveling anything out.
But, yeah, cold weather and a lack of sunshine can take their toll. I think I recall reading that in very northern countries (Russia, Scandinavia, etc) they have school children spend a certain amount of time under special light bulbs that mimic the sun's effects on the body.
Boston can behave the same way. I mean, seriously, snow and ice removal is a huge business up here. We get so much winter weather we have our own special names for snow storms. Yet you'd think the world was ending.
However, as a dude who drives to school, I am getting a BIT sick of shoveling out my car.
I've heard that, actually. It wouldn't surprise me. I'm a naturally optimistic person, but I get winter doldrums as easily as anyone else. It's hard to be cheerful when it's dark, gray, and with no signs of life outside.

So, good for you for A-- acknowledging your fear and B-- finding a way to overcome it.
