As he approached the intersection around the corner from the school, he became aware of a commotion. There was a crowd gathered, sirens blaring. His brows furrowed as he wondered what could have happened to cause such chaos. He’d just started to walk towards the crowd when he saw Himchan walking away from it.
“Hey,” he said, placing a hand on Himchan’s arm. The boy was pale, eyes reflecting a horror that turned Yunho’s stomach.
“Yunho,” Himchan said, voice shaky.
“What’s going on?”
Himchan raised grave eyes to his. “You don’t know?”
Yunho frowned. “Know what?”
Himchan took a deep breath. “A kid…from our school. He was hit by a truck.”
Yunho gasped, feeling the color drain from his own face. “What?”
“They said he just walked out into the street. He didn’t look left or right, didn’t hesitate. He just walked in front of the truck. They’re saying he did it on purpose.”
Yunho’s grip tightened. “Who is it? Do you know?”
“A sophomore. I think it’s the one that’s been following you around. Kim…” He paused, trying to remember the name.
“…Jaejoong,” Yunho whispered.
“Yes, that. Kim Jaejoong. Poor kid. I wonder what happened that would push him to do something like that?”
“Oh, God,” Yunho breathed. “Oh, no.”
Air froze in his chest, fear, panic and disbelief making him feel like he was having a panic attack. He was on the verge of hyperventilating.
“What have I done?” he said in anguish.
“Yunho?” This time it was Himchan holding onto him. “Yunho, what’s wrong?”
“What have I done?” he said again. He raised grief-ravaged eyes to Himchan’s as silent tears slipped down his cheeks. “What have I done?”
Yunho stayed in his room for two days.
He told his mother that he was sick and didn’t want to risk spreading germs so he stayed away from school and refused visitors. He didn’t even let her come into his room. She simply left his meals outside his door and picked up the dishes later on. But he wasn’t hungry, or couldn’t eat rather, so more often than not, the dishes were untouched when she returned for them. He was thankful that he had his own bathroom. At least he didn’t have to be stink even if he was on a self-imposed hunger strike.
The truth was, after he’d gotten home from school that day, only thanks to Himchan’s help, he’d dropped onto his bed and been unable to muster the strength to get out again. He’d stayed there, in his school uniform, for almost an entire day. He was moving around now, even taking short naps, but he just wasn’t ready to face the world. Guilt tore at him. It was eating him up inside.
Knock, knock.
“Yunho?”
“Just leave it by the door, mom, thanks.”
“Yunho, your coach is on the phone. He wants to see you tomorrow.”
Shit.
He could hide but his problems didn’t go away simply because he didn’t want to face them.
Sighing, he rolled over onto his back. “Tell him I’ll be there.”
“Okay, honey.”
Time to get back to the real world, he thought.
Deleted scene #2
That voice.
His eyes flew open, widening in shock at what they ultimately beheld.
“Hello, Yunho.”
Yunho closed his eyes again, pushing away the annoyingly persistent images of Jaejoong, trying to wake up from the nightmare that he was trapped in.
This can’t be real. I’m imagining things, this can’t be real.
“Oh, I’m very real, Yunho,” that familiar voice said, responding to his thoughts.
Yunho opened his eyes and looked at the figure in front of him. He seemed real, certainly felt it, but…how?
“You’re…you…”
“I’m dead?” Jaejoong cocked a brow. “Oh, I most certainly am. Gold star for you, Jung Yunho. You always were the ace in your class, weren’t you?”
As he spoke, Jaejoong punctuated his words by tightening and relaxing his grip on Yunho’s embarrassingly erect penis. Why wasn’t it going down?, Yunho thought frantically. He was being jerked off by a…by a…
“I’m a ghost, clearly. Whoooo!” Jaejoong teased, quickening the pace of his strokes.
Yunho winced, trying to put as much distance between him and the dead boy but Jaejoong’s grip only tightened, making him too terrified to move.
A/N: I didn't plan for these scenes to come out this way but that's how they were before I "fixed" them. The reason I re-wrote them is because they were too far ahead emotionally from where the characters are right now. Yunho doesn't feel responsible for Jae's death yet and Jae is angry but why and how he got to be that way (apart from the obvious) will be explored in the next update.
