Today is my sister's birthday. She would have been 29 years old.
There is a new angel in heaven. Courtney Renee Kessinger, 28, of St. Albans, was born May 31, 1982 and passed away unexpectedly May 18, 2011.
She was a graduate of the St. Albans High School class of 2001. She played saxophone in the band and received a standing ovation when she played "November Rain" on the piano in the talent show. Courtney graduated from West Virginia State University in December 2005. She was listed in the book of "Who’s Who." She acted in the play "King Lear" at WVSU Capital Theater.
Courtney was employed as an image operator II for the West Virginia State Department of Motor Vehicles. She loved roller skating, walks in the country, going to the beach, her dog, Brandy, and her family.
She leaves behind her loving mother, Rebecca Elizabeth Johnson Stewart of St. Albans; loving grandmother, Helen Ramsey Johnson of Nitro; sisters, Lindsey Rebecca Kessinger of Sod and Autumn Heather Stewart of St. Albans; the only father she ever knew, James Gregory Stewart of Ironton, Ohio; and her companion, Charlie Miller of St. Albans.
A celebration of Courtney’s life will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, May 23, 2011 at Casdorph & Curry Funeral Home, 110 B Street, St. Albans with Barbara Carey officiating. Burial will follow in Gilgal Cemetery, Mount Nebo.
