Back from my (AMAZING) three week spring break around (northern) Africa and continental Europe. Funny thing: I like Dublin best when I'm NOT in Dublin. It makes it a lot easier to say nice things about the city/UCD/my experience when I'm not.....actually experiencing it. Oh, and my cough that I caught a week before spring break? STILL HERE. With a ( Read more... )

whoa whoa whoa.
we were totally led to believe Rowling wrote HP at the Chinese Buffet on Bridges. (King Buffet? Jess?) in fact I have a picture of a plaque there saying so.
did she, like, write in MULTIPLE dining establishments??
that's just wrong.

where did you stay in Paris?

well, an author could quite possibly write in more than one place. i never went to a chinese buffet on Bridges (this could be because outside of Chans, I normally just make my own Chinese food) and I never saw the plaque. although the brochure/business card for the elephant house does claim the establishment is "the birthplace of Harry Potter".

I stayed with a friend in Paris, who is living with a host family while studying abroad. her "parents" were out of town, but her host brother was very nice. why?

I can't give you anything perfctly concrete right now, but if all goes well, I'll be in a house with three/four others this summer/next year, two of whom won't be here for the summer, with one spot left to sublet. We're hoping to get things worked out within the next week (please god, please), but chances are really big that I'll need another housemate and/or someone to live with in an apartment this summer. And even if that doesn't pan out, there are signs all over campus for Reedie houses with rooms to sublet for the summer.

Did you need a visa for your North African countries?

However, I am a messy person. Which I know bugs you. But if that's not a problem for the summer, then cool, and otherwise I can almost definitely set you up in a Reedie house.

I didn't need a visa for Morocco. I don't know about other countries. I'm totally going to apply for internships, thanks!!! And messiness doesn't bother me as long as your mess stays relatively contained (i always loved visiting your house, so if that's as bad as it gets, well, I would totally sleep over at your place any time) and that if you choose to wash dishes, they become clean. that's really my main pet peeve, I've come to discover. but really, you're probably an angel compared to my current roomates.

This sounds amazing! I'm jealous, I really need to visit Europe someday. Glad you had a good time, since you seem to be really unhappy in Dublin. When do you come home?
