Valentines Day Rant

Can somebody please explain to me why people either go bat shit crazy or feel like they might as well kill themselves during Valentines Day if they don't have a date? I honestly don't understand the why people get so high strung about a silly romantic holiday that is maintained to sell chocolates, diamonds, and Hallmark cards. Sure I celebrate it

I just have a general disdain for the holiday because I think its stupid. The only things I enjoy is the chocolate and the Cheaters marathon they have every year. I'm not a fan of being forced to buy something that will either a)die or b) never be used or looked at again just to insure that I will continually be getting some from my significant other.

Couples all have days that they celebrate their coupleness. They're called anniversaries.

Any holiday with chocolate is A-OK in my book.

I only get a tad depressed because it's one of the few times a year you can really go all out when getting someone something and not be seen as creepy early on in a relationship.
There is yet to be a V-Day when I haven't been disappointed by what others do for me, but I mostly like doing stuff for my gal that day. Shame I'll be missing out this year.
