Ugh. I would go somewhere else and get a second opinion before putting down that kind of money -- unless it's an emergency situation, or course. I'd recommend my vet, who is excellent, but he only handles exotics. There must be someone better in the area, though...you can probably find recommendations online.
There is no way we are paying them for surgery to remove the cyst. It just needed to be cleaned out, and have her put on antibiotics and given a topical ointment. Thats what everything online said, and anyone who has seen it with cats says. The first guy at the place did it right. He did try and sucker us into the internal drain thing.
This second guy is just an asshole. It's just an abcessed cyst. It's not a tumor, and it's not infected. If it's infected, it would smell like raw chicken, and the cat would have a fever, neither of which are the case.
Plus, its already looking alot better (it's still looks AWFUL) already. Even though the cat is just miserable.
People like that are the worst. They are just preying on people and their love for their pets.
