Taekwoon slowly opened his eyes, the sound of artificial birds chirped lightly from his alarm clock and his room was softly illuminated from the sun reaching through his white shutters. He smiled sweetly and stretched up in the air, his bed shirt rising a bit to show just a strip of his pale stomach, then he gently pressed the top of his alarm to silence it. He walked over to the largest window in his room, and his favorite, and drew back the curtains to look outside with a bright smile. There were a bunch of birds in the Magnolia tree that stood right outside his window all taking turns flying to the detailed yellow and red bird houses that hung on large iron rods that curled and bent into beautiful designs. Taekwoon sat at his window seat and smiled happily at the sweet pink flowers then looked farther out onto the large lake across the street. There were already a group of sail boats gathering near the harbor and Taekwoon smiled, figuring his parents would most likely be joining them soon. Taekwoon looked back to his large door when his hand maid walked in, bowing deeply and he giggled.
“Young master your breakfast will be done soon. Shall I prepare your uniform for you?”
Taekwoon smiled brightly and stood up from the window seat, spreading his toes out in the plush white carpet, “Yes that would be good.”
She bowed once more before walking into Taekwoon’s closet to get his uniform and place it into his bathroom and checked to make sure everything was in place before leaving and bowing one last time, “Your breakfast will be waiting for you.”
Taekwoon hummed and nodded at her, waiting for her to leave before walking into his bathroom and pulling his pajamas off to open his shower door then pull it close. Taekwoon sung softly some ballad his mother had playing a few days ago while he stood on his tip toes to look out of the frosted window to see the small boats on the lake again, smiling happily because he noticed there were even more. Maybe there was a race today? Taekwoon wished he could be down there, he loved nothing more than the rare occasions where he was able to be with his father on their yacht. He looked down at his fingers and frowned when he noticed that he was starting to prune, had he really been in there that long? He might be late for school if he stayed in the comforting warmth of his shower any longer. Taekwoon hurried through washing himself so he could carefully step out of his shower and grab a large plush white towel that was so large it almost was able to cover him up completely. He took care to dry himself before pulling on his light grey shorts, not buttoning them until he was able to tuck in his white dress shirt then finish it off with a red tie. He ran halfway down the stairs but had to stop to look out the large window that stretched with the length of the stairs because a familiar car was parked in his driveway next to his dad’s Cadillac. A large bright smile spread across his face and he quickly ran down the remaining stairs, skipping the dining room to run into the front den and sure enough there he was.
Jaehwan looked up, a smile forming over his face and he set down the delicate porcelain cup and stood, “Taekwoon-ah, how are you doing?”
Taekwoon ran up to Jaehwan and threw his arms around his waist, smiling brightly, his head barely reaching Jaehwan’s chest, “Professor!”
Jaehwan chuckled and wrapped his arm around Taekwoon while his other hand smoothed back his still slightly damp black hair. Taekwoon’s mother stood up from her spot next Jaehwan on the couch, rubbing a bit of vibrant red lipstick off that was below her lip and shifting her fitting white pencil skirt back to where it should be.
“Taekwoonie, dear have you eaten yet?”
Taekwoon stepped back from Jaehwan to look up at his mom, shaking his head, “No Mom I haven’t yet.”
She smiled softly, fixing her hair which was surprising to Taekwoon because his mom always looked impecible, and took his hand, “Come on dear, Mr. Lee is going to be taking you to school today, isn’t that so nice of him?”
Taekwoon looked back at Jaehwan’s smiling face, “Thank you so much Professor.”
Jaehwan only shook his head and fixed his glasses before Taekwoon’s mother brought him out of the room and into the dining room.
Taekwoon looked behind him after his mother pushed in his chair, “Mama, where is dad?”
She visibly stiffened for only a moment before smiling softly, “Sweety, daddy is outside right now, one of his friends came to visit him this morning.”
Taekwoon nodded, turning back to face his food and begin eating it when the front door opened and Taekwoon’s father walked in, wearing a navy blue suit and a smile. He walked over to grab his wife’s waist and kissed both her cheeks then ruffled Taekwoon’s hair and kissed the crown of his head.
“How are we doing this morning?”
“Great honey, Jaehwan is here to drive Taekwoon to school, isn’t that nice.”
“How wonderful! There just aren’t enough teachers like him around anymore.”
Taekwoon hummed in response, finishing his breakfast and standing up quickly, hugging his dad quickly, “I’ll be leaving for school now!”
Taekwoon walked out of the dining room but ran into the den the moment he was certain his father and mother couldn’t see him, “Professor! Thank you for waiting.”
Jaehwan smiled and stood, fixing his tie then placing his hand in between Taekwoon’s shoulders to lead him to the entryway of their home to pull Taekwoon’s school blazer out of the front closet and help Taekwoon slide it on. Jaehwan bent down on one knee to button the gold colored buttons. Taekwoon blushed softly from Jaehwan also helping him into his dress shoes and tying them.
“I can do this myself Professor…it really is ok.”
Jaehwan looked up at Taekwoon and almost lost his breath, those sweet round cheeks colored red were just too sweet, “Oh Taekwoon-ah don’t worry about it, I want to help you.”
Taekwoon smiled happily and looked down, fidgeting with the bottom of his blazer, “Thank you.”
J aehwan smiled happily and stood up, fixing his pants before leading Taekwoon out the door and to his own car, handing Taekwoon his blazer then opening the door for him. Taekwoon quickly put on his black blazer and buttoned the two golden colored buttons before getting in, smiling and thanking Jaehwan who only returned the smile and got into the driver’s seat.
