Taekwoon sighs heavily, looking out of the window and wishing he was on the side of the building where the large courtyard was visible. It was much more entertaining to watch little birds bath in the large fountain and fly tree to tree than to see another part of the building. Taekwoon leaned a bit forward, wanting to catch any glimpse of green but a few taps on his shoulder ended his struggle. Taekwoon turned to see his friend and classmate, Hongbin, smile brightly at him, almost too brightly. Taekwoon smiled back, much smaller and stood up from his desk, following Hongbin out into the hallway so they could descend the stairs. Taekwoon nodded, listening to Hongbin talk about some gossip even though he really didn’t care, he just wanted to get his lunch and get outside to possibly sit in the grass.
Hongbin sighed heavily and leaned back on his hands, looking up at the blue sky, scrunching up his nose because the grass was poking uncomfortably at his bare legs. “What do you think of Professor Han?”
Taekwoon looked up, pausing his chewing to think about what Hongbin said then continuing but slower, “What do you mean?”
Hongbin frowned at Taekwoon, sitting up more and scooting closer to Taekwoon, for once seeming to not worry about grass stains, “I mean what do you think of him?”
Taekwoon looked around them a few times before giving Hongbin a blank look, still not fully understanding him. Hongbin sighed dramatically, smacking his forehead and muttering something about Taekwoon being dense.
Taekwoon frowned, setting down his small bag of carrot sticks, “What?”
Hongbin shook his head quickly, “Never mind, now don’t tell me you have never thought about how hot he is?”
Taekwoon blushed deeply, looking down and when he didn’t give a proper response Hongbin sighed again and nudged him with his foot. “Hey don’t be lame. Look there he is!”
Taekwoon looked up and glanced behind him, seeing Professor Han smiling at a few girls gathered around him and giggling, handing him little colored pieces of paper.
Hongbin scowled, moving even closer and leaning on Taekwoon, “Look at those sluts.”
Taekwoon’s eyes widened and looked at Hongbin in shock, “Hongbin!”
Hongbin pursed his lips and shrugged, “What? Truth hurts.”
Taekwoon shook his head but he had to grab his carrot sticks because Hongbin started to hit him in the arm with increasing force, “He’s coming!”
Taekwoon looked up to see Professor Han walking up to them with a bright smile and Hongbin practically swooned. “How are you two doing this afternoon?”
Hongbin squeezed Taekwoon so tightly he was certain he was going to bruise soon, “W-we are doing really well Professor! How are you?”
Professor Han smiled and even laughed lightly, reaching down to lightly pat Hongbin’s head, “I’m great, thank you. Enjoy your lunch boys.”
Hongbin sat frozen, still gripping Taekwoon tightly until he fell backwards on the grass, giggling and hugging himself. “He is perfect.”
Taekwoon looked after Professor Han then back to Hongbin, “Hongbin, isn’t he like 20 years older than us?”
Hongbin sat up quickly, glaring hard at Taekwoon who instantly regretted saying anything at all, “Yea? What about you and Professor Lee huh? He is older than Professor Han!”
Taekwoon felt his cheeks heat up, he quickly covered them with both of his hands, looking down and feeling suddenly very shy, “I-I have no idea what you mean.”
Hongbin rolled his eyes, “Oh come off it, Professor Lee is always at your house and he treats you better than the rest of us!”
Taekwoon threw down his hands frowning at Hongbin, his forgotten carrot sticks falling into the grass, “That is not true, Professor Lee is nice to everyone! He is fair and is a good listener and, and…”
Hongbin rose his eyebrows, looking at Taekwoon who blushed and looked down, pulling out a few random pieces of grass, “I don’t like him like that…”
Hongbin scoffed, pushing Taekwoon over looking down at him and frowning more when Taekwoon didn’t sit back up, “Uh huh, you do like him don’t you.”
Taekwoon bit his lip, feeling his eyes water from embarrassment and he knew his face must be really red because his face was so hot. He flipped over, hiding his face into his hands wanting to not look at Hongbin nor wanting him to look at him.
Hongbin giggled and poked at Taekwoon, “Taekwoon and Jaehwan sitting in a tree-“
Taekwoon sat up quickly gasping, “Don’t say his name!”
Hongbin laughed when Taekwoon pushed him, catching himself so he didn’t fall over because he really didn’t feel like getting dirt and grass in his hair, “What? I’m sure you like to say it a lot~”
Taekwoon hit him again before standing up and grabbing his lunch bag with a huff and walking away, his ears bright red.
Hongbin laughed, holding his side as he stood up to try and follow Taekwoon, “Hey, hey don’t get all mad!”
Taekwoon ignored Hongbin and walked back into the school building, not talking to Hongbin for the rest of the day.
Taekwoon took a deep breath, walking back home after school and enjoying the fresh air very greatly. He looked down, hoping from block to block of the sidewalk, taking great care to not step on any crakes. He would only stop to hop up on a bench or on a brick ledge that outlined a small area full of flowers to balance across then jump back off, not on a crack of course. Taekwoon stopped at a plaza, smiling happily to see a group of small birds and even a few squirrels running around. He crouched down near them, but not too close so he didn’t scare them away, and pulled out the rest of his sandwich he didn’t get to finish because of Hongbin. He pulled off some of the bread and tossed it towards the birds, worried they would leave when the bird flew up into a nearby small tree but they came down only moments later to eat at the bread. Taekwoon smiled brightly, hugging his knees so he could watch them get more and more comfortable with eating the bread. He sighed, waving at the animals before continuing on his way home, only stopping when some adults smiled happily at him and asked him about his family.
Taekwoon skipped happily up to his front door, frowning when he noticed that his dad’s car was missing from the driveway. He shrugged it off, this wasn’t the first time his father wasn’t home when he returned. He walked into his home and handed his bag and blazer to the maid that bowed near the front door and he frowned, where was his mom?
“Mom?” He frowned when he didn’t receive an answer.
Taekwoon started to walk around the house, searching for his mother, frowning when he didn’t find her in the front den, then he looked inside of the library but she wasn’t there even though he was so sure she would be. Taekwoon clucked his tongue, walking down the hallway to the back part of the first floor, stopping to look at the family pictures and large paintings hanging on the wall with a smile. He stopped when he noticed the back den’s door was cracked, which was odd because they very rarely ever used this room. He pushed the door open to peer inside but he was not expecting what he saw. Jaehwan had his mother pushed against one of the walls, they were kissing deeply. She had her arms around his shoulders while he griped her waist, pulling her closer. Taekwoon’s eyes widened, feeling his face heat up because he swore he saw a flash of someone’s tongue but he didn’t know whose. A piano broke the tension and helped Taekwoon tear his gaze away and hide behind one of the small tables that had a vase full of large flowers near the door. He held his breath when he heard his mom leave the den, talking on the phone and walking towards the front of the house but he couldn’t really catch what she was saying over the sound of the pounding in his ears.
“Taekwoon-ah?”
Taekwoon froze, slowly looking up to see Jaehwan looking at him with wide eyes, he slowly looked down the hallway, to the den, then to the boy sitting on the floor with watery eyes. Jaehwan smiled softly, crouching down to hold out his hand.
“Come with me Taekwoon-ah.”
Taekwoon sniffed and nodded, hearing his dad loudly greet his mom from the front door while they walked out the back. Jaehwan lead Taekwoon over to the flowering Magnolia tree and sat below it, gently caressing Taekwoon’s cheek.
“Hey everything is ok, that is perfectly normal Taekwoon-ah don’t worry.”
Taekwoon looked up at Jaehwan with big eyes, feeling his body slowly start to relax from Jaehwan’s soft, reassuring smile, “R-really?”
Jaehwan smiled softly, “Yes really, here see.”
Jaehwan leaned in slowly, cupping Taekwoon’s cheek before connecting their lips. Jaehwan’s eyes widened and his heart sped up, not knowing what to do so he felt himself start to panic. Jaehwan didn’t want Taekwoon to be tense, however, and guided the boy to tilt his head while he slid his tongue into his mouth, boldly rubbing against the other. Taekwoon was happy he was sitting otherwise he felt like his legs wouldn’t have held him up. Jaehwan groaned softly after hearing Taekwoon’s little whimper and he gripped his dress shirt in tight fists. Jaehwan had to pull away after a few moments, he didn’t trust himself if he continued to kiss Taekwoon any longer and instead rubbed his cheek with his thumb.
“See, nothing is wrong right?”
Taekwoon smiled softly, looking down shyly and a light pink blush dusted his cheeks, oddly a similar color to the flowers above them, “Right Professor.”
Jaehwan had to leave before he got harder.
