Apparently, this is the last day before the elections. I've got my bets placed for the General Election, and I know who I am voting for (which puts me in the 6 out of 10 faction). Apparently the two headline issues are "the economy" - on which the politicos are telling us nothing - and "immigration" - on which the politicos are trying to say ( Read more... )

You have three councilors but you only get to choose one at a time over four years.

I have always voted a 'straight' ticket...in the US that's picking one party and voting for that party's candidates. I don't know if it will do any good here but I doubt it can hurt.

As for the Warm Zone initiative that isn't directly connected to the council. It is a country-wide movement to make homes more energy efficient and make sure that people who need help get the benefits they are entitled to. They have been working here for the last several years.

We got our insulation done and paid for by the council (or Warm Zone) a few weeks ago, so the scheme is definitely there: I think they're moving around the city one area at a time with it, and then gradually contacting people in each area.

I'm booked to have my insulation done in a couple of weeks as well, they've already been to measure it all up so it does indeed exist! I'm not looking forward to it because some muppet piled big wooden boards on top of the existing insulation in the attic so I've got to crawl around in the eaves removing them and hopefully not dropping them or any bits of me through the ceiling below, before the new insulation can be done...
