It changes roughly every decade through the power of the retcon.

Sometimes if changes because you're reading the wrong alternate reality (there are 52 of them for DC alone, after all).

What you need is a "time and relative dimensions in space"-travelling hero who will NEVER change no matter what happens to canon - a hero whose job is to FIX AND PROTECT the comic book multiverse and continuity, without ever letting anyone know he did it!

That hero... is BOOSTER GOLD!
