My mother isn't much different. Yesterday she said jokingly that she would be at this year’s birthday party whether I liked it or not. I recalled that the last time I had a birthday dinner I did in fact refuse to let her come...
Because she told me: a) She was sorry she ever adopted such a ungrateful "shit head" and b) She never wanted to see me again.
I brought this up and she flatly refused to hear it at all, saying that she never said such things and that I have a wild imagination.
I was raised in this kind of household mind you. I found after being on my own that it is much bigger hearted of a person to admit faults. No sensible person expects perfection. I think that parents are the best people to learn from because they almost always possess certain unwanted qualities that we shun others for. They give us a model to improve on.
