I was discussing candle colour in school, I have red ones, and another teacher asked why, her church it's 2 red, 1 pink and 1 purple. Is there a special reason for the red? I get the signifiance of the red berries, oh and we have 1 white candle in the middle for Christmas day.
I think it's really supposed to be three purple candles (representing hope, peace, and love) and a pink candle (representing joy)and a white candle (representing Christ)in the center, isn't it? I don't know much about it as I make it for tradition only.
In Denmark it is most common to use white candles and we don't have a candle in the middle (which I find quite interesting). I didn't even know you did that but then again Christmas day is not really celebrated here. At least not in the same way. I don't think the red ones holds any deeper meaning. I just used red because it looked better with the berries, he he... and in Denmark red is the color that is associated with Christmas. So no there's really no reason for the red at all.
