Don't give credit to guys who do things for their girlfriends/wives/fiancee/mistresses on Valentine's day, as most of them won't do anything else for them any other time of the year.

Those holidays are ridiculous, the capitalism that keeps it afloat (and vice versa) is just another way to make people spend money. It creates an obligation in relationships, and alas, another tension is created in a relationship if said obligation isn't fulfilled to the standards anticipated.

If someone wanted to show a girl/guy that they cared, they wouldn't need a reason to go out and treat them to something. It isn't about the day, the money spent, or the glamour one puts on it... it literally is the thought that counts.

In conclusion, fuck Hallmark Holidays.

Being single on those days, to me, is better than being hitched. You don't have to walk on the eggshells of expectation and obligation. Think of it like that.

Even if I had a girlfriend, I wouldn't wait until one day out of the year to not treat her like shit. Nope. I'd treat her like shit on that day as well. I'd say probably worse than usual, but then I'd be treating her differently on a Hallmark holiday. I'd still be conforming.
