Introducing... Caroline Blanchette D'Langley

Jun 19, 2012 01:10

It seemed fitting that my first post here in LiveJournal should also mark a new beginning in my life. :D

I am now a proud owner of a lovely ball-jointed doll, after admiring them for so many years. She's a Volks SD Kun with a lovely face-up done by Mingyi.

Many of you might know her by her former name, Viola. She's been to a good number of meets under the care of Kuri / hibiemi :)

When I saw Trisha / delgadina post that she was up for adoption, I was hesitant. I've handled a couple
of other girls in the general size range of SD's, and I honestly found them a little hard to manage. But I took one look at
her face and just melted. I remembered how Kuri told me three years ago that owners almost always have to fall in love with
the doll's face first, else they won't really feel a connection with it. So I went for it.

I met up with Trisha to pick up my new baby, and my very first! I don't know what it feels like to open the box of a brand-new
BJD, but I'm pretty sure that the feeling of holding your doll for the very first time is no less magical if they're second- or
third-hand. The moment I held her in my hands, I didn't know whether to laugh or cry. I've wanted a BJD for quite a while,
and all I could do was smile like a lunatic at the thought that this girl was really mine.

Here is my very first photo with my girl, complete with my dorky-happy "YAY I HAS A DOLLIE" face. XD
Yes, I even attempted to match her wig, just for kicks. I was just so happy to have her. I shoved all my complaints of "She'll
be inconvenient to carry around" and "She'll be hard to manage" out of the window. I love her, and I'm not going to let petty
things like that stop me from enjoying her.

Trisha's sales post pointed out that this girl has a small chip on her knee, which I actually found very endearing. I have this thing for "defective" items: a lopsided nose on a bear, a missing eye on a dog plushie, The chip on her knee just makes her all the more special to me. :)

I chose to name her Caroline Blanchette D'Langley because I will never get away with naming my biological children so pretentiously (or can I?). The name also reminds me of luxury, and this girl definitely enjoys luxury. Plenty of dresses and shoes should keep her happy. :D

Her efforts to persuade me to make more dresses border on the dramatic, too.

Silly little girl. We'll see. :)
