Casting The House of the Spirits, Isabel Allende
When doing this picspam, I had to decide if I was casting the book or recasting the movie, which featured Meryl Streep, Glenn Close, Jeremy Irons, and Winona Ryder, just to mention a few. As I've never seen the movie, I went with the book. The only justification I can offer for each of these is the ( Read more... )

I just have to say "House of Spirits" is one of my favorite books ever (along with "Of love and shadow") and I love your casting, you're making us chileans look really pretty xD.
I watched the movie, and even though the casting was amazing, the adaptation was not good, can you believe that they made Blanca and Alba one single character? it was awful.

Now I'm getting ready to watch the theatre play, which will open here in Chile by the end of the month. I can't wait :)

Thank you! I was worried someone would call me on casting Marion Cotillard as a Chilean but I always imagined Blanca being sort of other worldly looking in comparison to her family, and paler because she was supposed to be so high class./end ramble. It's definitely one of my favorite books ever and though I've never seen the movie, I was disappointed in the casting just by reading it and knowing they cut out Alba (or merged her.)

we have french looking people here so Marion Cotillard is alright :).
I think the reason I didn't like the movie was because they cut out Alba, she is my favorite character. I always thought Blanca was kind of a pushover but Alba was such a strong woman

I agree with Verogeller you're making us look almost too pretty. and I like that nearly all the actors are people who actually can speak spanish.
I saw the movie and while yes, the cast was nice, it wasn't a good adaptation. I remember my mum laughing at them using winter coats in december.
