Juan se fue al concurso de Derechos Humanos

Hello and happy weekend.

It's been a while since I heard from most of you. I had thought about going home this week but didn't. I thought I'd be going to Ciudad del Carmen on a business trip but the dates were pushed back to June 16th. I had an interview on Wednesday for a summer job as Faculty Advisor at a Leadership Conference for 6th and 7th graders in Washington D.C. The program can be seen at http://www.cylc.org/jrnylc. I thought the interview went well but now I'm desperately waiting for a response. They said it could take up to two weeks for them to get back to me. Long-term planning is not something I'm attempting at this point in my life, so don't ask what my plans are if I take the summer job and then it's August. I don't know.

I'm missing Granddad's special art show in which someone from the Metropolitan Museum of Modern Art talks exclusively about him and follows his artistic styles throughout his life. Congratulations, Granddad. Mom, I wish you well in your Chamber Singers concert at the same time.

Juan left tonight for Washington D.C. He's one of two student representatives from his university going to a Human Rights Competition in American University. He's been practicing the 15-minute speech he has to give for weeks and he looks and sounds great. We're hoping he brings home the win. Juan will be coming back next Sunday.

I'll attach a few photos of myself, baby Helena (I met her on her second day), Juan's mother Gely, Juan's sister Paulina, and a picture with two female cousins and two male friends of Juan and Hector. Plus a heron in one of my favorite parks in Merida "Parque Hundido".
  Keep in touch!
