Day 4 // Your Favorite Book

Speak by Laurie Halse Anderson

I read this book in 9th grade. Long story short, I had an extremely rough 9th grade. Probably the worst year of my life. I was really, really like Melinda personality wise (I never did get raped... just to clarify). We pushed people away, we were so shy and we were talked about. Then all of a sudden in the middle of the year... we opened up. This book is just so well written. Laurie captures high school life in a way I've never seen any book ever do. Everything to what the bus ride was like, what the cafeteria was like, what classroom life was like was just so spot on. Melinda's thoughts were written and explained wonderfully. I've read this so many times it's scary... such an amazing book.

To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee

I'm pretty sure I was the only person who liked this book when we read it sophomore year. Atticus Finch is my favorite literary character of all time. And I adore Boo Radley. I love the explanation of the town of Maycomb, I live the diction that Scout, Jem, and Dil have. I love the way the characters interact. I love Atticus's story line with Tom Robinson... there's nothing I dislike about this book.

Twilight saga by Stephenie Meyer

I know, I know it's ~uncool~ to like Twilight. And believe me, I will point out any and every flaw this book series has (and I know it has a lot). It's not written well, there's cheesy charaters, Bella's a Mary-Sue... but I love the storyline. If there's one thing I can compliment Stephenie on is the fact that she's a good storyteller. And point blank, I like love stories. I'm not a bsc fan that thinks a fictional vampire that sparkles will fall in love with me. I just like love stories.

Honorable Mentions: Harry Potter series by JK Rowling // A Walk to Remember by Nicholas Sparks // Go Ask Alice // every other book in the world?
