Summary: Kurt brings warm milk to Finn at night hoping for advice.

The first time Kurt brought Finn warm milk was the night Blaine asked him to help him rehearse for the King’s Island Christmas Spectacular show. Kurt couldn’t sleep - too many thoughts of “he likes me, he likes me not” were running through his head. He knew Finn wasn’t asleep because he could hear the explosions in the video game he was playing entirely too loud in the room next to him. Kurt brought Finn the milk with every intention to try to get advice on what to do about Blaine, if Blaine likes him or not. This was also the night Finn broke up with Rachel officially. So instead, Kurt sat there with Finn as he poured his heart out like the good brother he wanted to be.

The second time he brought Finn warm milk was Christmas Eve. This time there was no intention of bringing up Blaine or Rachel. They just sat in the living room watching A Christmas Story play on the big screen, watching the snow outside, and wondering what gifts they’d be opening in the morning.

The third time was a week before the championship game. Even though Kurt was at Dalton, he still spent the better part of the evening with a stressed out Finn. Kurt knocked softly on Finn’s door and he heard a mumbled “come in” from the other side. Finn’s face lit up when he saw the milk and leaped across the room to grab it.

“Thanks, dude,” he said as he gulped it down.

Kurt smiled. “It’s tradition.”

The fourth, the fifth, the sixth and so on times happened the days leading up to and after the championship game. Kurt even started bringing a glass for himself. Although he had hoped he and Finn could have more time talking about things that didn’t involve football or glee, he was glad Finn wasn’t stressing as much over it. Two days after the championship game, Kurt changed the subject for the first time in a month.

“How do you know if a guy likes you?” Kurt said as he finished his own glass and set it on the dresser. Finn choked on his milk.

“Wh-what?” He croaked out before wiping his mouth. “You’re a guy. I mean, you like other guys… but you’re still a dude. Shouldn’t you know?”

“I’ve never actually been… pursued before,” Kurt said as he played with the hem of his shirt. “I’ve always been the one.”

The two of them stayed in silent for a moment. Finn took another sip of his milk and Kurt felt ready to give up.

“I guess… for me, I kind of just wanted to spend time with them a lot. When I dated Quinn I wanted to be with Rachel more. I even bought her pizza,” he said laughing. “I guess it’s different for other guys, though. I mean Puck will just tell a girl to meet him at his house with a bottle of wine coolers. I guess Sam and Artie kind of have that nerd thing going on or whatever so girls think that’s cute.”

Kurt nodded slowly. “So there’s no handbook or anything…”

“Look, if this is about Blaine, I don’t think you have to worry,” Finn said as Kurt looked up. “If you want my opinion, I’m pretty sure he likes you.”

Kurt went to bed smiling that night.

---

The next night Kurt came into Finn’s room with only one glass of milk this time instead of his usual two. Kurt didn’t say a word as he handed Finn the glass and headed towards the door.

“Kurt?” Finn called. “Where are you going?”

Kurt paused at the door. “He likes someone else.” He shut the door quickly and quietly.

---

The night after Kurt’s first absence in his and Finn’s unique bonding experiment, Kurt came in Finn’s room in an exponentially better mood than the previous night. He happily gave Finn his glass of milk and Kurt made his way to the desk.

“I didn’t expect you to come in tonight. You seemed upset last night…” he trailed off, as Kurt’s smile got wider.

“The guy Blaine liked? Not even interested in him!” He laughed as he took a sip of milk. “We had to perform at the GAP. Do you know how awful that is? He works at the Gap. Blaine got him fired! I told him that song was too sexual to sing…” Kurt started to trail off but started laughing again. Finn furrowed his eyebrows as he looked at Kurt.

“So this is good?” Kurt glared at him.

“Are you kidding me? This is the best news! The guy isn’t even that cute. I mean he was great eyes, but my hair is so much better. He’s not even out yet,” Kurt said as a look of realization came over his face. “I mean I feel bad for Blaine. Getting shot down like that by someone you like hurts. But is it wrong to be selfish and be happy that I actually could have a chance with him? Maybe he’ll come to his senses--” Finn cut him off.

“It’s not selfish.” Finn smiled. Kurt grinned as he spent the rest of the night trashing Blaine’s crush and mooning over Blaine. Finn didn’t mind. That’s what brothers are for.

---

The next afternoon, after a particularly long and grueling glee club rehearsal, Finn came home to find Kurt curled up on the couch watching a movie. Finn went to his room to change and came downstairs to find two glasses of warm milk on the coffee table. He sat down next to Kurt on the couch and took a sip.

“What are you watching?”

“When Harry Met Sally. It’s a romantic comedy,” he explained at Finn’s confused expression. He nodded slowly. Kurt turned to Finn with a grin on his face. “They get together in the end.”
