No, no, they aren't allowed to hurt your feelings and/or your family. It's just not right to do something like this to people they care about, or the say they care about.
But they might be lonely themselves and because of that they act like that.
I don't try to find excuses for them. I just feel... pity. Because they can't let others be happy because they aren't happy themselves.
