Program: Photoshop CS
Steps: 4-5
Translatable: No, uses selective color
PSD: yep!
Works best with COLORFUL images!! (yay! color!) Or images that have blues and whites. Yellow images don't work so well.
1. Base! I'm using Kenzo from Ayabie! Duplicate your base and set it to OVERLAY. Mine is set to %66 but you can change that or even set it to SOFT LIGHT instead.
2. Layer>>New Fill Layer:
Fill with #A8A8A8 and set this layer to MULTIPLY
This will make the whites grey and we can start to see where the colors will be popping out.
3. Layer>>New Adjustment>>Hue/Saturation:
Master: 0/+20/0
Reds: 0/+15/0
Cyans: 0/+40/0
Blues: 0/+48/0
This is to make the colors really POP! I didn't make the reds too bright because it would look too pixely and it would ruin the whole purpose of step 2!
4. Layer>>New Adjustment>>Selective Color:
Reds: -24/0/0/+28
Cyans: +100/0/0/-29
Blues: +100/+4/-45/+10
METHOD: ABSOLUTE
This step is also to brighten the colors! The cyans and blues really came out here. I felt like trying something different instead of always just brightening up the reds. it also made everything look sharper
If you like the result you can stop here, if not keep going
5. Layer>>New Adjustment>>Levels:
RGB: I- 27/1.21/231 O- 6/255
Red: I- 34/1.02/227 O- 65/219
Blue: I- 0/1.06/255 O- 0/255
I found that the result after step 4 was a bit dark and many other tutorials give a similar result so I added this layer. If you don't like it you can play with the opacity or leave it out all together.
this means your done :D
PSDI would LOVE to see your results! :D
