That first sentence

I'm trying to start my Oz story for spook_me, and I've realized that probably the hardest part of writing any story is simply starting the damn story. Because the idea is all there in my head, but it's intimidating to take that first step of coming up with and writing down that first sentence. Mine tends to start the same way. It's just a good trick to get things going. I think you'll get there.

It *does* get things going-- I just can't help feeling that there's probably a better way and I just don't know what it is. Ah well, whatever works in the long run, I guess. ;)

It's the best way to start - It brings the reader right into the scene!
Nevertheless, I'm satisfied with every fic that starts with Toby sitting on his bed in em city :)

You're right-- I could probably write an extra 500 words to help set the scene, but I tend ramble enough as it is. Heh.
