Heh, I'd been thinking of picking that compilation up, it does seem to have all the cool songs from this year that you wouldn't want to buy an album for. Which Snowpatrol song does it have on it? And does it have that Razorlight 'trouble in America' song on it (I don't know what it's called really). Razorlight being another one of those bands with some very good stuff (Golden Touch, the aformentioned America song) and some thoroughly crap ones (In the Morning).

The Snow Patrol one is called "Chasing Cars", and there is a Razorlight song called "America" that has the lyrics "There's trouble in America" in the chorus. I bought it because it had Monster and Chelsea Dagger on (and the two bands respective albums that had those songs on were otherwise naff with a couple of okayish-but-I'm-not-that-bothered-about-them songs) which amount to the same price as this 40 song album (£13 on Amazon and £16 in Virgin, I thought Virgin would be an apt place to buy a noob album ( ... )

Yeah, that's the Razorlight song I like. It reminds me of something else, but I'm not sure what. It'll be interesting to compare this to the similar-idea-not-NME album I picked up last year. I don't recognise half these bands, but then I have been quite out the loop this year (no Glasto). And I'm quite supprised that there's no Lily Allen or Gnarls Berkely* on there, it's not even as if the NME didn't like them. I guess they're too 'popular' now (unlike, um, Killers?). And yeah! YeahYeahYeahs! They've been ignored in this country for far to long and they r0xx0rs.

*yes, I know they're both quite cheezy, but I quite like them.
