Agree. I can't stand summer and I live in a place where 70-80% humidity is the norm, which is stupid of me I suppose. I don't understand why anyone would prefer summer to winter. It's easy to get warm in the winter - put on a sweater and a hat, find someone to snuggle with, etc... But the summer is so disgusting and my various diseases react very poorly to it (esp. the humidity).

If you want to kill more of your fruit flies put some wine in a shallow dish, put a dot of dish soap on the tip of your finger and then touch it to the wine. It changes the surface tension to the fruit flies can't skim the top and they adore wine most of all. My mother vacuums them but I don't have a vacuum with a hose and I enjoy seeing them all drowned and dead.

My mother in law says, "You don't have to shovel heat!" but I say, "When you're cold, you can put stuff on. When you're hot, there's only so much you can do!" I can't very well show up to work in my bra and panties, now, can I? I'm definitely more of a spring/fall person. I love when it's cool out, and the humidity is at a decent level. If I could find a place that has spring- or fall-like temperatures year-round, I'd be there!!

I killed six fruit flies using your method, and, as a bonus, the kitchen smelled like red wine. Mmm.

For real. Here it's super hot/humid summers and often very cold winters (not like, -30 cold, but plenty of weeks in the 0s and some negative days). It's downright ridiculous.

Though I run really hot so winters don't bother me (and I can't leave my apartment much no matter what the season, so snow isn't an issue). I didn't have to turn my heat on even once last winter (living on the fifth floor helps).

I'm always warm. People tease me because I am always the person who's complaining about the heat, even when people are bundled up in sweaters. I wear skirts year-round and, in the middle of winter, my thermostat is between 63-65 degrees. Cold rocks!

That's what I love about living in the desert. Yeah it gets pretty fucking hit in the summer, but it's a dry heat. The most humid I've ever seen it was right after it rained hard and the humidity was a staggering 48%. Normally it's 5-10% humidity.

I don't mind a little humidity; my skin dries out really easily, and my usually bouncy curls turn into sad, depressed-looking curls if the humidity is too low. My body is so picky.

That being said, too much humidity feels like being strangled all day long.

I rarely complain about the heat because I've spent every summer including and after 2002 (except one - 2009) in the south - either Florida, southwest Virginia, or South Carolina. But yesterday was MISERABLE. I walked outside, was out there for less than a minute, and my bangs were literally immediately stuck to my forehead. Ugh.

I lived in south Florida until I was 23. I hated it then, when I dealt with it every day, but now that I live in a place with all four seasons, the summer hits me really hard. When I go back to visit family, I feel like I'm being strangled by the humidity every day. Ugh! But at least they've got central air... Up here, it's almost not even worth it, summer is so short.

But it sucks while it's here. (I'm more of a spring/fall person!)
