Ramayana is a work of fiction. And just like any other fiction, some characters are bound to be ignored.

But I bet if Ekta Kapoor was involved, Ramayana wud have been 10000 pages long and Urmila wud have got at least 500 pages!

Good thoughts Vanita... My thoughts:
Women were forbidden to travel out of the house and especially considering it was a forest dwelling, it could be that Urmila wasn't comfortable with that decision. Okay... comfortable is not the right word... It might have been expected thing that nobody follows person who are exiled. Sita is considered goddess because she was out of the common people and took the path no one else ever took.

Thanks Chandra...what u said makes sense. If Urmila didnt want to accompany or was not allowed on all that probably we can come up with our own Puran :) only Rishi Valmiki knows the truth anyways!!!

Just yesterday I came to know that Maithili Sharan Gupta has written "Saket" with subject as Urmila's agony of separation. I am looking forward to read all those poems of Saket.
