i'm really lucky that i have wes doing most of the cooking, but he forced me to bake this acorn squash i had bought a while back. and since i'm so easily amused, i had to take a picture of the first slice. :p
In my early 20s I used to keep track of every dollar I spent, including cash, in Quicken. It's amazing how fast the money goes and how much useless stuff you buy. Have you seen this site? Fascinating stuff: http://www.grocerylists.org/
i just recently started keeping track of my spending! i always told myself that i kept track via my credit card statements (i rarely use cash), but then i put myself under a budget and actually kept track in order to stay within it. :p
ooo grocery lists!!! :O i don't know why i'm so damn nosey about what ppl shop for, but man... sometimes i find myself peering over at the purchases of the person in front of me at the grocery store line, and think... ohh.. so this person is having a birthday party, or .. ohhh this person really likes this organic fake tofu cheese (noting 8 blocks of it and only that). that and the list can be so varied! some ppl buy nothing but junk food, some others buy fresh stuff only. ooo ahhh!!???!??!??
Split it in two, scoop out the seeds, drizzle with honey, toss in some brown sugar on each side, add some cinnamon, bake for an hour. It's really good.
i was going to do the brown sugar thing, but then realized i was out. :p i considered slathering the halves with pancake syrup, but decided i was too hungry (and the thought too nasty) and sliced it up to expediate the cooking process instead.
daaamn. i don't think i want to count - i'm not even sure if your $80 is a lot or not. i know i probably SHOULD think it's a lot, but i think i may have spent more than that this week.
i've tried keeping track of things in quicken, but the software ends up annoying me.
oh, wait, i just noticed you included gas in yours - in that case, you've spent like nothing!! ;) with our commute, we spend about $45/week on gas now (at the current $2.33/gallon price).
oh oh this is where i find it interestings!!! some ppl would think $80 is a lot, some not, some blah blah poo poo pa!!
for me, $80 isn't a terrible amount, especially as you noted i included gas, which i have a seperate budget for. but this is especially not a lot since i survived on frozen meats that week instead of buying fresh (normally i get some beef or fish). and on top of that, i've been fine tuning a new budget for the past several months, and this is the 4th incarnation! :O i've been trying really hard to cut down on spending since i suddenly have a ton of things i have to save for!
2 years ago i would've screamed that $80 a week is NOTHING, but now i'm like, if that doesn't include gas, that's a good amount to stop at. :p oh oh oh and i spend roughly $80 a month on gas, currently at around 2.45/gallon! *delight*
wes + the word "budget" = much frowning + noises of dismay. i used to be the same way, but i've brainwashed myself out of it. still working on convincing myself to be a morning person, but that hasn't been going so well.
i'm saving for the gruntie wedding, another trip to chicago, car maintenance (new tires + etc), re-ment sets, and house downpayment. need large wad of cash to fall from the sky.
the prices for each new incarnation of the PS are getting insane!! i've soo been priced out! how are kids going to deal this xmas? actually, how are the parents going to deal? :p

I wouldn't use pancake syrup, but I would certainly try maple syrup.
