Federal judge Vaughn Walker invalidates Proposition 8, California's ban on same-sex marriages, citing "no rational basis" for the discriminatory law.It's about time. I know, this is serious YAY! When all of that originally went down, my Mormon friend received a 'home visit' from her bishop. She told him to go to hell, and proceeded to give him directions :D

The thing that makes me most crazy about this whole this whole thing is the kind of tack the anti-gay movement takes when they're being interviewed. They always focus on how there's supposedly a majority out there who don't want gay marriage to happen so the courts should respect the vote of the community.

Someone should remind them that if we used that doctrine as a yardstick, slavery would still be legal in the Deep South today.

And then there's the argument about how children need a mother and a father. I agree -- that's the best way to do it for many reasons. But I don't see these people up in arms over gay marriage railing against straight couples getting divorced and/or single-parent child rearing.
