They did mention on the German news that there was no meltdown so far, too. This is a good link, I'll post that in my LJ, too.

Thanks for linking to this. I've been worried about the reactors in Japan, but was also aware that the ZOMG MELTDOWN hype was overblown. It's good to see solid and educational reportage.

Two days ago, I would've agreed with you. I was even trying to persuade a friend of mine not to cancel her planned vacation there. But the news just keeps getting worse, and even though panic is always counter-productive, I do think that escalating the threat level of this is not out of order or the work of hysterical 20-year-olds at this point.
