- The actors from Supernatural and Vampire Diaries (or Vampire Diarreah, like Misha named them) had a suite with two doors to stay and relax. Yesterday, Misha in their suite was annoyed by an insistent knocking on a door down the corridor. He waited for someone to answer the door, in vain. Then he waited for it to stop. But the knocking went on, and on, and on. When it was driving him crazy and he couldn't stand it anymore, he went to check... and he found Ian Somerhalder, locked in the bathroom.
- Today, Ian Somerhalder didn't want to do any more photo ops (fans had paid money for this!), because he had got drunk yesterday. Contracts were pulled up and lawyers were called. Correction abt Ian and Mark Pellegrino, as I was on the ground floor when all the photo commotion was happening on the floor above: Ian DIDN'T change his mind and didn't do the Lost Tribute, so Mark P. joined the group photo with the 4 other SPN actors for the sake of the fans who couldn't have their Lost photo. A fan overheard Mark Sheppard remarking in his private Meet that many young actors today let the fame get to their head. [June 18, Edited to Clarify: *I* attended Rising Con, not Bloody Night Con, so the Ian info comes from others, it's not something I witnessed.]
- Sebastian Roche's jokes in his panels this morning (he had one with Misha, and then they were joined by Mark Sheppard and Mark Pelegrino) were ALL about sex, especially with men. I was tempted to talk to him in French (Pardon-moi, Sebastian, mon amour, mais je veux parler a Misha!), when he addressed me, but I was too much of a chicken to call him "mon amour" so I didn't say a single word - he flirts with us shamelessly but it takes practice to do it back. The guy came back from the bathroom with his belt and pants undone! He said something I can't recall to Mark S., who replied: "Never say that to a guy with your belt undone!" Many jokes about Castiel and Balthazar, and Sebastian and Misha (Misha said he can't stop him from humping Misha's leg, etc).
- Misha, at his Meet (just after the morning panels) said: "That was the longest panel I've been. I thought it'd never end." A few of us agreed, the rest stayed silent! XD
- Misha's afternoon panel: he got us on stage to do yoga. The position of the "dog". Misha on his hand and feet with his ass in the air... damn, I had to practice the same position and couldn't look!
There was a question in that panel about "Girl, Interrupted" and he told that funny story with his hippy attire full of leather cords, that he didn't know how to put on, and Angelina Jolie helped him - only he didn't know who she was! And about the director telling him he needs a haircut, so they gave him one, but the director didn't like it and made him take another one - and for SIX HOURS Angelina Jolie and Winona Rider waited for the saga of his hair to end, and the director and the producer, who were married, got in a fight over his hair - one wanted it long, the other short - and he, novice that he was, was stressed about the whole thing. Now, he enjoys having everyone wait for his hair to be done.
- A fan said she was very sad when she learned he's not a regular in S7, and asked if he has other projects. Misha was very clear in his answer: he doesn't know yet his status in S7 and he has no other projects. He told his agents to f*ck off and took a long vacation this past month. Only problem is now he doesn't have a job - that's what happens when you tell your agent to f*ck off! The fan kept asking about other projects, not related to work, and Misha talked about the group he's formed with some friends (named "20000 parades", after he had a dream about it - yesterday he had said that again in the Meet and he had added that he dreams about naming things and when he wakes up he writes down the name... which reminded me of him having named his turtle that way). This is the group that's done the projects all Minions know about: the Tea Party, the planting of a dead tree (with the Latin inscription I won't repeat!), and the creation of a venting machine with smells, some of which were absolutely disgusting. And then he kept going back to how he doesn't know about his status in S7 - maybe he should call them and learn. He said he's been doing about 12 episodes a season for the last 3 years. He doesn't know how much they'll need him this year. I got the impression (to which Mark Sheppard's salute contributed heavily - I'll talk about his salute further down) he wasn't happy about his demotion in SPN, he wasn't happy not having a stable job in SPN anymore.
- I watched Mark Sheppard's afternoon panel totally by accident. I was only going to the Con for Misha's panels, and the rest of the day I was sightseeing Barcelona (because hey, I paid 555 euros for the airfare and the hotel, so I had to be a good tourist!), but by 4:30 in the afternoon of Sunday my feet were killing me, so I stayed seated after Misha's panel ended. I half-paid attention to Mark's panel. There were a few questions asked about his other shows, like Battlestar Galactica (which he praised so highly, that I've decided to watch it!) and others, and at the end... OMG, he gave a short speech and stole my heart. He stole everyone's heart - he got a STANDING OVATION FROM THE AUDIENCE. His speech was him explaining why he goes to Cons (to complete the circle - can't explain more at the mo), and also stressing the point that without the fans some characters wouldn't reccur or re-appear. He specifically mentioned the fans being unhappy with Crowley's death, and now angry with what's happened to Castiel, and told us our reaction matters.
My God, the guy couldn't come out and spell it more clearly! Combine this with Misha's reply in the previous panel, and his remark "contracts can be renegotiated" in Brazil, and I clearly see Misha's reply that he gets back his job in SPN. It's a working environment he loves, among actors he's friends with (and he spoke highly about the welcoming atmosphere on set, and Jensen and Jared being key on creating this, in his afternoon panel), and he's brought so much to the show, and helped so much promoting it through his devoted fanbase, that it's unbelievable they demoted him because of... what Gamble called it: "artistic decision, in the best interests of the show".
When I think about the initial rumor people were so quick to repeat, that maybe it was Misha who preferred being a reccuring characters because he wanted more time off to do other projects and be with his baby, to which I always replied "this makes no sense, because he gets a PAY-CUT for the same number of episodes"... :( When in reality he doesn't even know his status on SPN, except that he lost his job as a regular. :(
And here's the precious piece of info that it's heard in public for the first time. Five minutes before the end of yesterday's "Meet", we talked about the finale - nobody in the room liked it (in fact, I think almost nobody in Spain liked it, judging from the fans at the Con! They didn't like the first half of S6, either. Pity they can't contribute directly to the ratings, because the DVD sales show results a lot later...). I mentioned the "Letters to Cas" (Misha hasn't read them because he hasn't been home yet) and told him he might cry when he reads them. He said he knows the importance of Castiel for the fans, not because of the letters, he hasn't read them yet, but because there were fans in the past who told him they had an accident, and they imagined Castiel next to them in the hospital, guarding them. He said he also loves Castiel.
Misha talked to the writers mid-season and told them "I think this character means more to the fans than he means to you guys. You can't flip a switch and make him suddenly go evil, like Ruby. Oh she was a demon, so she's evil! So, we got a Castiel episode, we saw his reasons, and hey, he's doing it all for a good reason; who knows, maybe he's averted Apocalypse 2."
I said, what does it matter if the end result is the same (I meant, becoming evil), and Misha thought it mattered because we saw why he's doing it. I said "But that's what they did - they flipped a switch and Castiel became evil", and Misha replied "But that's because of the souls." The fan on my right exclaimed "He killed Balthazar!" at the same time I said "He broke Sam's wall before the souls!" Misha said something along the lines that Castiel broke Sam's wall because he felt he had no option, because he was trying to prevent the Apocalypse. I said I could watch S7, if in the premier Sam and Dean got the souls out of Cas (you had told me this after the finale, datenshiblue), and he reverted to himself, and Misha shook his head, replying immediately and with conviction: "I'd be shocked, I'd be extremely surprised, if they did that in the premier. Now they've done this, they're going to milk it."
(Cut. So sleepy, I almost nodded off on the keyboard! Cont'd tmr morning, if I have the time. If you want to learn more abt smthing, help me with specific questions, to help me recall the details.)
June 13, ETA: There's more abt Misha (not Castiel) and his unfulfilled dreams, traveling, fanfiction and tumbler, explanation of his last Twitter pic and last twit, but I have to leave for the airport in a couple of hours, so I don't know when I'll be able to update again.
--
It's up, now! I typed out the second Meet during the flight. :) There is a bit of Castiel, after all: about his voice changing in the last minutes of the finale.
I also updated this entry with a couple of sentences I recalled.
Check out youtube for the panels (search for risingcon + misha) - there are people uploding them in their entirety, and Misha is hilarious in all of them (with the exception of the one question above, I think). Definitely watch Mark Sheppard's final speech, if anyone's uploaded it - the man STOLE MY HEART. That's how people who owe something to the fans should treat the fans - although Mark went BEYOND AND ABOVE in his speech! Truly, beyond and above, and he earned my outmost respect, and gratitude, and it's the first time in my life I want to write to an actor to tell them "thank you", and I'll watch Battlestar Galactica just because he praised it!
