So, a friend of mine (let's call her Sparrow) has a Chinese straight sword, or jian, that she bought from her tai chi instructor a couple of years ago. It's an old sword. Like, Qing Dynasty old. My Dad grew up in Maine Farm Country. As is standards for males in said lands at age 10 he got a single-shot .22, at age 15 he got a shotgun. He left the farm lands for the "Big City" of Portland, Maine. He then left said guns in the basement to rust solid ( ... )

Hey, sorry it took me so long to respond here.

Thanks for sharing about your father's guns. There is definitely great value in family heirlooms. My family doesn't have any, unfortunately. Our extended relatives are estranged, and we suffered a house fire back in 2000.

I finally have that sword and will see if I can post pics. Dear Reader has a digital camera she might let me borrow.
