Cool photos! Washington in September is certainly an option -- but (maybe I am wrong?) it sounds rather boring. It's a day hike, well, can be made 2 days. How about something more distant like Katahdin, where there are less tourists and more of untouched nature? It's not about altitude, it's about the process :) D

Katahdin is a ~7 hrs. drive from Boston, the red tape is tremendous: you have to apply years in advance with things ranging from your secondary education attestat, to your mother's maiden name to your climbing resume, Denali was easier :) That does keep it quite untouched (not by Travis though). So it's tempting, but it does involve putting together an application and keeping the correspondence w/a ranger.

Still looks much more appealing (I presume, that was in winter? There should not be any snow at the summit in September, right?). Mt Washington is "popsa" in summer. How about running it in 1 day? Perfect test for your knees before ski season starts :-) D.
A chemu zavidovat'-to?! Mountaneering in the East is like swimming in a business suit. No, it's like sex in a wet suit. No, it's like kayaking in a 10-person raft. No...
Anyway, how about Colorado in July or early August? MUCH BETTER!!

Ходит, ходит, но Вашингтон ему боюсь не одолеть пока.
