Stats: 23 fics totaling ~55,000 words and 11 podfics, totaling 4 hours, 43 minutes, and 30 seconds.
Most popular?
Fic: Hands Off (Steve/Tony) by hits and kudos. Not the best received when taking into account ratio and comments, but it blows all the others out the water by sheer numbers.
Podfic: Hard to guess. Mirror (Logan/Rogue), Discipline(Steve/Thor), and The Lee Jordan Show (HP gen pod-together project) are definitely the top contenders for downloads alone. Make It Work (Erik/Charles, collab with analise010) is definitely the most popular in terms of kudos. I’m discounting Mirror, because I posted that with the text.
Most underappreciated?
Fic: I really don’t know. I didn’t really do much this year, and everything averaged a pretty low hits to kudos ratio.
Podfic: Again, I don’t know. The response we got to The Lee Jordan Show, while all very enthusiastic, wasn’t as much as I hoped - I’m surprised it ranks lower than a number of my other podfic, because I think it’s by far the best audio production I participated in (in the actual audio part; there were some fabulous podfics of things I wrote).
Personal favorite, for whatever reason?
Fic: Mirror Image (Steve Rogers/TJ Hammond) is probably my favorite? Beer, Talk, and Sex (Steve Roers/Logan) is another I’m quite fond of.
Podfic: The Lee Jordan Show, because god damn, it was amazing to do, and I think the end product is amazing. So much love and appreciation for everyone involved, it's just fantastic.
Most difficult to make?
Fic: Mr. Nanny (Steve/Loki). I had all these ideas for it, but it was strangely difficult to actually write it. Voicemail Remnants (SPN gen, Benny-centric) was also hard to write, cause I had to go and rewatch th season basically to get th events and relationship dynamics right between Benny and Dean.
Podfic: The Lee Jordan Show. I don’t even want to think about how many tracks were in editing that thing.
Most "ah ha ha I can't believe I'm doing this"?
Fic: Hooker for the Madame President Elect (Ben/Leslie) because it’s really dumb. Also Moments of Control (Steve/Bucky), because what the fuck do I know about BDSM sex? *laugh-sob* Oh god, that fucking fic….
Podfic: Discipline. Cause I’m living at home with my family at the moment, and I was betting against them taking long enough to come home for me to fully record when I was home alone one day.
Most fun to make?
The Lee Jordan show for both fic and podfic. It was amazing to write with croissantkatie and the podfic, I even had fun editing it! Hearing it come together, I just wanted to share with everyone.
Was there one that didn't turn out the way you wanted?
Fic: All of them? I really wish I could have done Mr. Nanny and Moments of Control better. Mr. Nanny is far too sketchy for what the art it is based on deserves. It should have been at least twice as long. Moments of Control fails in portraying Steve and Bucky's power exchange relationship the way I'd like, and it's not very good sex either (the gangbang is AWFUL.)
Podfic: Again, I say meekly, most of them? Let’s shelf that question; best not to dwell on it.
Biggest learning experience?
Fic: The Lee Jordan Show. Only writing collab I did this year, and only the second one I’ve ever done.
Podfic: Make It work. First collab along with an as-of-yet unreleased one (which I will finish, I promise)
What's next?
Fic: Try to finish some works in progress. I’ve got a number of long fic I want finish.
Podfic: Try to get through all the stuff I’ve been working on, fics I haven’t started recording yet, finish editing ones I have, etc. Nothing too exciting, honestly.
Other bits and pieces:
Overall, this year wasn’t a great year in producing fanworks for me. I only wrote 40% of what I did last year, though I doubled my podfic output. I had to drop out of a few challenges, which I’m sad I had to do.
I also don’t know if I’ve grown as a writer. I feel my podficcing has definitely improved, though I still feel like I’m terrible at it, but my writing is so hard to judge, and honestly, I did mostly smut this year anyway. It was pretty hit and miss all around.
Ah well. Here comes 2014.
