So, I'm watching the series through for the first time, and I'm halfway through the 1st season, and I have a question I need answered by a reasonably non-denominational science fiction fan before I bother to put more time into it:
While the individual stories are cool, the long term story seems to be in serious danger of turning the show into a 100+ hour rendition of some kind of fucked up christian rapture prophecy porn dressed as a sci-fi show. If this is the case, please let me know so I can avoid becoming more bitterly aggravated and annoyed than I can possibly express.
The matter is basically one of free will. If the show is really all about some inescapable force pushing humanity towards some inevitable resolution at the hands of an omnipotent deity, I can quit now, thank you very much - I have already recieved at least one dire but non-spoilery warning about the end of the series, so now I am loathe to commit additional time to it. Battlestar 1980 scarred me enough for one lifetime, I don't need to experience the ultra-fundamentalist version too. K'thks.
