After talking to you guys this summer, the notion has been stuck in my head. I'm seriously considering getting certified after the new year.

I don't know that particular shop, but any place you get certified, the quality will mostly depend on the particular instructor you are working with. Some want to get you through the class as quickly as possible and sell you a whole set of equipment from their shop. Others want to make sure you learn the material thoroughly, feel comfortable in the water, and if you do buy equipment, make sure it fits you well and is appropriate for the diving you are currently doing and the kind you are likely to do in the future.

We got certified through the Georgia Tech scuba program, and it was excellent. http://www.gtscuba.com/

There is a great web forum site called http://www.scubaboard.com/ for discussion of all things scuba.
