[It had been a while since Riku had gone alone to gather his thoughts. With all the arrivals from "back home" he hadn't had much time to reflect, or in many cases... vent. Which is what he was doing now, in the forest. For

[This is the second day in a row that Rep has sensed Riku out in the forest. That by itself isn't unusual, since it's Riku's routine. Rep stopped fixating on Riku's energy signal once he figured that out, but today he feels a surge out there - almost like Riku's power had doubled.

His curiosity is too great. He pockets his SFC, changes into Dark Mode and summons his Soul Eater at the same time, then teleports to the general area where he thinks Riku is. He winds up a few yard away, and that's when the scent gets more distinct. It's not Riku with twofold power; it's Riku and someone else with a nearly identical scent to his and Rep's own. Only at close range can Rep discern the difference.

He takes a few steps toward the not-Riku scent, eventually coming upon another young man.]

Hey, you there! Who are you?

I didn't come here to see you - I came to see if there really was someone else with a power balance like yours.

[ Riku's got Ansem's now, and Rep's got Zexion's. They don't exactly have identical auras anymore, but all the same Katsu and Riku (as he is now) are remarkably close. ]

But it looks like I was wrong, anyway. You're still scared of your own powers.

[ It shouldn't bother him as much as it does, but knowing he was beaten by this guy... at least this guy could not be a wimp. ]

Maybe you're better off than he is, after all, Katsu.

Y U IGNORING YOUR TEACHER? XD And pfft.

Whatever you say.

[Which he realizes and is now glad--it will make it easier to pinpoint him if need be now that he knows that presence again. All the same, that little comment? It brought back a bit of that old resentment.]

I'm not afraid of the darkness inside me, or the shadow that still lingers.

[He pulls up the blindfold over one eye, letting him see with it.]

Though I will admit most people are better off.

Because I know this stuff already. /o/

[He shakes his head. Better off? Probably not. He has enough trouble containing his own power.]

It's not weakness to be afraid. Fear isn't always a bad thing - it keeps you aware. Letting the fear control you, though... that's different. Just because you're afraid of it doesn't mean you shouldn't use it.

[As if to demonstrate, he activates Null Fire and casts Agi, letting the flame burn in his hand.]

/ducks out because Rep is a jerk like that

Maybe it's not a bad thing for you two. [ He swipes the air. ] I'm not afraid, and I plan to stay that way.

Excuse me if running around with a blindfold on by choice looks like cowardice to me.

[ With that, black streams of energy come up all around him and envelop him, then slink down into the ground and thin out upwards. Through the tendrils, though, Rep says one last thing. ]

And it's "Caden" now. Get used to it.

[ With that, he teleports away. ]

[Okay, now that little bit of attitude? It got Riku a little ticked off. The blindfold slips back over his eyes to hide away the eye rolling as he shakes his head. ...Whoa, another one just like-

...Caden. Well, it was better than nothing, at least. He sighs at that last bit.]

Sorry you had to witness that. We don't exactly see eye to eye.

[He watches the other go, and then turns back to Riku.]

I can tell. No harm done. He was pretty polite, compared to some demons I know.

[He chuckles a bit. Polite...]

Going to have to agree on that one, even with the temper he inherited from me. I'm guessing he already told you my name?

Do you train out here a lot?

I do occasionally. The dead trees nearby at least give something to focus on.

[ After Rep leaves Katsu and Riku to their own devices, he goes off to think for awhile. He hadn't planned on speaking to Riku at all, after the conversation leading up to him smashing his SFC. He's been trying to figure out what Riku meant by all that, and why he'd try to be nice to Rep. Even in that last conversation, as frustrated as Rep got, Riku never really raised his voice to Rep, nor called him 'Fake.' He relives what Kanji and N told him about names, trying to figure out why that would be, but can't.

It's really, really weird, and curiosity gets the best of Rep inside of an hour. He reappears a few yards away from Riku once he's absolutely certain Riku's alone now.

... Unfortunately that's as far as Rep gets at first, not even sure where to begin. He looks off to the side while gathering his thoughts, even though he's certain Riku knows he's there. ]
