[just happened to be looking up some reading as well when she noticed him. she's staying out of sight for now, but Suzaku will suddenly find that book floating down toward him seemingly on its own.]

[He looks away for just that brief moment. When he turns back, the book is...moving? Towards him. Floating? ......Floating.]

[His hands fly to his waist but - fabulous, no gun. He's completely unarmed of course. The book seems to be going at a leisurely pace so he tries to take it all in stride. How dangerous could a few pages of coral reef charts and graphs be? He reaches hand out, tentative.]

[just as he reaches out, the book opens! but it's only turned to the first page.]

[cardinalist]

[Okay. Alright. So not malicious. That's...a step in the right direction.]

....Next page? [Understand that HE FEELS LIKE A DOLT talking to a book. But he's guessing it might be somehow enchanted. This whole city seems to be after all - it was a perfectly logical to assume smaller objects would be too.]

[He half expects it to shoot an actual piece of coral in his face]

[she's managing to refrain her laughter, and after a moment the page turns.

once it settles, she speaks.]

Is there something you are looking for, young sir?

[her voice is obviously nearby in the same direction as the book, but she's still nowhere to be seen.]

Suzaku's derp is very powerful in that regard ;D

[SUZAKU HAS A FIVE SECOND EXISTENTIAL CRISIS. Quietly. Then -- He jumps a little at the voice and looks around quickly, barely moving himself. He's gotten quite good with controlling his peripheral vision]

Just some light reading. Where you the one moving the book?

[just wait until he sees her.

oh wait. here she comes out of her hiding place, chuckling a little.]

My apologies, but you looked rather serious. So I thought to lighten a mood a bit. [another laugh.]

[....oh sweet jesus. Suzaku takes a step forward. Then -- two and a half steps back. He realizes what he is doing looks incredibly stupid so he just stays still after that. He's never blinked so rapidly in his entire life.]

[she's gotten quite used to the reaction so she just gives a light laugh, very amused.]

SUZAKU IS WONDERING IF UNICORNS CAN LEARN GEASS

[smiling-which is probably odd for Suzaku.]

I am a winged unicorn, or a horned pegasus. Whichever one you'd prefer. [also she has magical always flowing mane and tail even when there is no wind.] But if you would rather an actual name, I am Princess Celestia of Equestria. [light laugh.] Not that titles matter here.

But if you mean this-[and her horn glows a bit as the book once more hovers in the air]-it is quite simple magic that all unicorns can do.

.......I. Uh. I see, your....highness. [It was only polite, wasn't it? Considering how much interaction he's had with imperials, you'd think he'd be more collected]

!! -- [He steps back from the book, momentarily shocked again] That's quiet impressive. Where I come from I've...seen my own fair share of strange...er. Powers, I suppose. At least yours aren't malevolent. [He sounds relieved]

Oh, my name is Suzaku, by the way. I'm a knight and soldier in the royal military.

[meeting a royal mythical creature can do that.]

There are those who also have malevolent powers in my world, but you can rest assured that mine are not.

[gives a polite nod.] It's a pleasure to meet you, Suzaku. You look rather young to be in the military. [also, do you want the book back? because it's still there.]

[He notices that the book is still floating there so he quickly grabs it, cursing himself for acting to impulsively and not at all as refined as he would have liked]

Well I...in some ways I was drafted. But at the time, my country was in trouble. So regardless...I wanted to do something. [His grip tightens slightly on the spine of the book]

[she notices his reactions, but doesn't comment about them. instead she only says this:]
