It was a lovely afternoon for a soak red head to be having a chat with a shop keeper. The woman had been kind enough to give her a towel and tell her about the coral deity that brought her to Vatheon. That was about

After he slipped up again.
Thus he waited until later on to approach, or do anything for that matter. Even then, he was hesitant. "...Kairi?"

No. Not goodbye. See you later.
And sure enough, she was seeing one of them later, but something was different. She smiled as turned to face him, clasping her hands behind her back.
“Riku.” She closed the space between them, if he would allow it. She allowed the concern to flitter across her expression as she looked him over. Kairi had confirmation that this was close to how they found him. She didn’t know how to ask.
It was still Riku, and she wouldn’t let him face this alone.
The issue was they had already got passed this.

He hasn't gotten close to that point yet, doesn't know a lot of what will eventually happen. What he does know, however, is that this place seems to enough bringing his friends from a future he doesn't know and is foreign to. It's taken all his willpower to keep himself rooted to this spot--to at least say hello and not turn tail and run from one of the two he missed the most.
Lowering the hood as she calls his name, Riku can't help but still feel worried. He'd allow her to get closer; it's Kairi, after all. He knows that scent--that light anywhere. Yet that pause... the concern and uncertainty is far too apparent, even to the one who was partially blinded by choice. Still, he isn't sure whether she'd remember... What should he say?
"Welcome to Vatheon." Start simple, at least. "Has anyone told you about this place, or-?"
Do you remember?

Then his sleeve is caught by a hand, and he couldn't help but recognize some things about the gesture. She was... trying to keep him there? It was a silent relief, at least. Sora first had been the most skeptical, but still accepted him even after all he did--wordlessly forgiven him for all his wrongdoing. Yet why-? Why was he always nervous about facing their light even after learning that? Even if she doesn't recall any past times here, it's still Kairi.
Too bad he'd always be uneasy about it with the shadow sleeping inside his heart...

She decided his hand was a much better target to hold on to, her fingers curling over his. “Mind giving me a tour?"
The important questions were left unspoken for now. Kairi had gathered enough from her previous encounters with the other guests of the bubble. Anything else, he could tell her later, when they were alone.

Why yes, that was a faint shudder accompanying the grimace. The tentacles... and the creepy, slasher smile grins. No way in the worlds was he really going to 'help her.' He'd gotten the hell out of there the moment he could swim through a portal and where the magic wore off. There had been a reason he didn't mind flipping the council off behind their backs... Far too many, actually.
"...Alright." So she doesn't remember. Figured after the last time they'd spoken. "I don't have to be at the site for another few hours, anyway." Still, he began to lead her away and further into the city.

Kairi wore a wicked, as wicked as she could get, grin. Tugging his arm ever so slightly as she poked him in the side with her free hand. Next adventure, she was tagging no matter what. She played swords with them when they were little and she didn't do too badly against the heartless. Riku might not have gone through that yet. He was definitely a touch younger. If this place could pull in people who aren't, as sad as it was, supposed to still be around...
Whoops. The seriousness might have been apparent on her face. She decided to pretend it was for. "The site?" Totally covered that up, right?

Seriously, if Kairi had seen what Sora did during their first journey... she should know why he got the heck out of dodge. He didn't doubt her skill, even if she had much less experience than himself and apparently Sora--couldn't Cure to save his life, after all. Especially after...
No, was not going to think back on that. It was bad enough when they were there. "Construction site. I promised to help with an elevator that will lead to the surface world."

Whether she had a notion as to what was possibly going through his head didn’t show. Kairi just lightly begun to swing the hand she held. Aside from the hug at their reunion, or grabbing a hold of him before that, she couldn’t recall the last she touched him. Before the first journey, Kairi had been a bit intimidated by the darkness growing in him. She could see it, and she hadn’t a clue if he could be helped.
She almost gave up on him. Twice. She gave another squeeze. “Where are you staying?”

He paused, shaking his head and seizing the chance to take a step back. "That secret stays with me."
That's right. He's being cautious, but why he won't say just yet. Could it be protecting her, or was it distancing himself because of his shadow? If so, the answer is probably both.

“Riku…” She halted in her steps as she looked around. Finding a place they could sit away from any hustle and bustle of the locals, she gave his outfit a tug.
“Let’s sit.” And talk.

It was out of the way, and it didn't look too busy if his heart-sense was telling much of anything.
