Rep wouldn't admit it, but he was distraught after losing both of his room-mates. And when he's distraught, he gets overly emotional. And when he gets emotional, he gets confrontational. When he's in a confrontational mood, he just wants to fight and stops thinking clearly about everything else that's making him upset ( ... )

Prince Siegfried had only just been beginning to find a feel for the city when it was struck by the beast, and he did not wish to tarry a moment in his efforts to combat the creature. His princess was here, and, he didn't doubt, countless other innocents who needed to be protected. Strictly speaking, he was still an innocent: the business of this city was not his, but nor would he stand by and watch the attack be suffered.

So shortly before first light, he ventured into the city to begin the battle, or at least his part of it. He also doubted that he was the only capable innocent, but that would hardly stop him from acting as he saw fit. His enemy was plain and his sword was sharp. He was as ready as he could be, and he leaped into the combat with familiar ease. Literally, from the highest ground he thought to be manageable ( ... )

Talk about a rude way to get woken up! Onion Knight had practically bolted out of his bad, sword in hand, at the sound of the kraken attacking the city.

When it had become apparent that there was no way he could take on any of the tentacles on his own, Onion Knight had set out to search for others, keeping an eye on the tentacles and avoiding getting caught in the damage and debris left behind by the flailing limbs. He stopped when he saw two people attacking a tentacle with little success, and decided to approach.

Managing to get up to where the other two boys were, he gave them a small, awkward wave in greeting before getting down to business. "Have you tried anything besides trying to cut the tentacles?"

He wasn't sure how long they'd been at it, after all. And he didn't really want to try things that had already been tried.

Mami was out on her usual patrol of the city rooftops when everything happened, the earthquake, when the barrier broke and the coral drained her power in order to fix it, everything. She was quick to act when the kraken started to attack, spotting three figures already trying to fight it. After jumping down from the building she was perched at to join them, she used her ribbons to try and cut through the tentacles first but them seem to be made of sterner stuff.

She shifts to using her guns now, a flick of her hand making dozens of them appear. The girl starts to shoot at the creature, throwing each gun away after firing one shot after the other. The kraken was starting to remind her of the more tougher witches she fought back home.

"It seems that--" She heaves a breath, firing another shot before throwing that gun away, "shooting them is not enough either."

"It doesn't matter where it came from," Rep insisted as he regained his footing a little ways from the tentacle. "It's going back!"

And now for a different approach...

Pulling back both of his hands, he throws his bare hand forward - a dark purple and black flame writhes all around it. Then, his whole hand pulses as three consecutive energies are emitted toward the tentacle. They hover in three different places all along the length of it, a small white spiral coiling the tentacle closer to it in each position.

He gave both the knight and the girl who had approached them a glance in turn, and then directed a similarly uncertain look on his blade. His answer had been one of resigned determination, for he had not seen what else they might try, but that hard hardly meant he was going to stop trying.

Then the other boy lashed out with that strange power, drawing a gasp from the prince, and forcing him to rephrase his words before they were spoken.

"Something else has indeed been tried. I suppose it merely depends on what you are shooting with."

Having said as much, he lifted his blade above his head with a fanciful twirl and prepared to spring. "And perhaps this will make other methods easier..."

Onion Knight's first reaction to seeing a girl join the fray with ribbons was to get her out; it wasn't safe here! But once it became apparent she was a fighter, he dismissed that idea and nodded in acknowledgement of her analysis of the ineffectiveness of her attack.

... He had no idea what just happened when the silver-haired boy attacked again (some kind of magic?), but Onion Knight had to agree with the white-haired boy; that attack did probably make things easier for them.

He couldn't help but let out a small whoop of excitement at the evidence of damage on the tentacle. "Great!" Grinning at this sign of progress, he raised his sword up high. "I'll make that wound bigger for everyone!"

Using his weapon to channel magic, Onion Knight summoned three beams of energy that converged into a miniature explosion at the base of the tentacle's wound. With luck, it would enlarge the wound on the thrashing tentacle like a wood splitting wedge.

Red was just in time for this wonderful timing. As Onion Knight's blow caused the wound to turn for their favor, he slowly lowers from flight and commands the Charizard that he was riding on with a silent point of his finger. He wasn't going to let that important chance slip.

"Air Slash!"

Right afterwards, a set of white blades from the sky continued off from Onion Knight's blow, chaining it in a combo as the bits of thrashing flesh further weakens due to the perfect timing. Though, due to its wounded state, the tentacle begins blindly raging whatever it could hit within its blind range.

"Ah!"

Even the sky wasn't safe. The tentacle's fury almost hit them. Red reflexively ducked his head, the two quickly flew off to the side to avoid a close call of being hit.

"Here."

It might be hard to hear her voice in all the action, but it's not hard to miss the protective spell she cast over the group. Anyone that get attacked by the tentacle once would find they're unharmed for that moment. But only that moment.

Her hand crackling with electricity, she aimed a Ziodyne spell at the tentacle quickly.

Funny how being in a different body dulled your reflexes. That's why Rep was only able to bring his arms up protectively over his face as the tentacle reached out for him - only to be stopped by the protective spell.

He gasped a little in the girl's direction, realizing she'd actually helped him - they all were! He didn't even know them and they were acting like a group! This baffled him and he raised his hand to move a bang out of his face. 'Why... they must want something out of this.'

The Ziodyne jolt brought him back to the situation at hand, though, and it gave him an idea he hadn't tried before...

One hand forward again, he tried to envision a similar reaction as what he'd just seen. What came out wasn't quite as big or as damaging, but it was Thunder nonetheless, and a nice follow-up to her spell.

Siegfried gave Amane and the others a swift nod, acknowledging their presence and her aid. For him, the help was something to be grateful for, rather than something to suspect, and other fighters might have found themselves smiling grimly at this point. His determination, however, kept his mouth in a tight line as he leaped.

His arms arched above his head, and he brought the sword down in a clean arc onto the wounded limb. He felt flesh rend beneath him, this time, but there was far too much to sever with a single blow. His mouth twisted in sour dissatisfaction, which warped into shock as the tentacle struck at him solidly in one of its spasms.

Thankfully, Amane's spell spared him the damage of the hit itself, however, and he was able to push his body through a series of twists and turns to land delicately in front of her. "Thank you..."

Then, his jaw clenched as he pivoted to regard the monster. "There must be something more... If we could strike at once, or combine what power we have in some way..."

Onion Knight thought quickly. They had at least three magic users (one who also had protective magic) and someone commanding and riding something that looked like a dragon (possibly making him a Pokémon trainer?), though it would be hard to communicate with him while he was still airborne. Four of them used a melee weapon (he was assuming the ribbon was supposed to be a weapon), though it seemed like the white-haired boy had no magic. Or at least, favoured the sword. The silver-haired one's sword skills seemed stronger than his magic, but there may not be enough space for two people to be in melee. The first girl had ranged weapons (those were... guns, right?) that would probably be more effective now that the tentacle's flesh was exposed ( ... )

Mami regarded the newcomers with a nod, voicing her thanks for the barrier that was protecting them now. With a flick of her wrists, more ribbons appeared, wrapping around the tentacle, bounding it with her magic until it can't move. The puella magi gave it a tug, satisfied that the ribbons were tight enough. This should make things easier for now.

At Mami's request, and with understanding of Onion Knight's proposal, Red quietly agrees from his height. But in favor of the plan, he flies lower and jumps down to the ground. Within a flash, he switches the Pokemon he's handling, a little Pikachu jumping out and landing in front of him.

"I'll contribute to the electric wave," Red said as his eyes remain focused on the binded tentacle. Despite its temporarily stopped state, it may break loose sooner than expected and start thrashing around wildly again.

"Everyone, let's do our best!" he cheered for all of them, fleeting a quick smile for each of his team members.

He waited for a good timing afterwards, allowing the others to ready their own positions.

He'd wanted to stop thinking and here was an opportunity. He didn't understand what was going on with these people, but he was a lot better at following orders than puzzling things out for himself.

He let his Soul Eater blade vanish with a tiny wisp of purple smoke, then turned his attention to the tentacle again. With one hand, he started another Thunder attack, then he brought his other hand up as well. With both of them sending out blasts of energy towards that gap in the tentacle's flesh, it was the best Thundara spell he could make on short notice.

To his surprise, it was working. With all of them sending out those electrical waves, the tentacle was getting both charred and twitchy without countering their attacks.

Siegfried was hardly about to jump into the middle of that, but he wished dearly that he could do more to contribute to this part of the combat. However, he returned Red's swift grin with his own confident smile.

"Of course! We shall certainly triumph..."

Sliding into his stance, he fixed the tentacle in his clear golden gaze and was most satisfied with what he saw. The coordination was showing its efforts well, and he hoped to be able to offer something more decisive himself before long. He did not doubt the power of his blade, for all that it was ill-suited to a fight like this, and he wished to show as much.
