Wednesday. 7pm. A calm, normal day in Vatheon. Nothing betrays what is coming. And yet the signs were there, if only someone had been able to see them for what they were

SQUALL + WHOEVER RUNS INTO HIMrequiem_grieverOctober 3 2011, 20:10:23 UTC
What. The. Hell.
Yes, it was just Squall's luck that he'd arrive in some new interdimensional place only to have it attacked by some gigantic monster the second he was just starting to get used to the city's layout. And then he felt his energy being drained and damage to the city being repaired. So that was what everyone meant when they said they were needed. Making his way to the nearest window, he could see the gigantic tentacles flailing about.
Shit. People were in trouble. Maybe even some of the people he met. Picking up his Gunblade, he's out the door and heading towards the carnage. As he approached, a tentacle swipes at him and Squall rolled forward to avoid being hit. Keeping his attention on the appendage, he continued to run, looking for an opening to attack it.
Just a short time after arriving in this city, Squall was protecting it from attack. Ha. He wasn't sure how he felt about that. Taking a quick look around, he could see other city residents battling the tentacles. They seemed to be holding their own well enough.
"I'll be going around the city," he replied. No need to say he was looking for people. "If I run into one, I'll kill it. But I'm not going to seek them out."
Rider turned and leapt back up onto the roof, her long hair finally disappearing over the edge. She would undoubtedly see the quiet man again, but for now she had business to take care of.
People were in danger, and she was doing her best to help them out. And she had just lost a friend in the fray of tentacle battles. One bright thing that came from this was finding Aqua again.
She had stumbled on the lion’s dance with his tentacle as she was searching for Riku. “…Squall?” Kairi turned her attention to Aqua. “I’ve got to help him.”
That rash side of hers was peeking as she summoned her keyblade and ran to hit the old slimy thing. Maybe it’ll focus on her long enough so Squall can finally get it or get free of its path.
"Kairi!" Off went the young girl and Aqua right behind her, determined to keep that bright light safe from any harm. But she was right and Squall could use some help in keeping the sea beast at bay. The tentacle slithered about, its movement erratic with each strike coming at it from different angles. It started to rear back at Kairi's advances and rise from the ground, curling the tip as if to make a giant fist. It paused for only a second before it started to come down on the fighters.
"Take that!" Jumping back and taking aim, she lifted her keyblade and could feel the spell charging as a cold mist floated from the metal of her weapon. From the tip of her blade, a jagged ball of ice started to form and shot out at the attack limb. Upon contact, the ice spread across the slimy skin causing the tentacle to freeze in place. "Squall! Attack it now while it's frozen!"
Right now, there was no time for Squall to do anything but take the opportunity they had given him. The tentacle was frozen, but he didn't know for how long. Gripping the Revolver with both arms, he raised it over his shoulder and the blade glowed blue. With incredible speed, he rushed forward, slicing the tentacle with his weapon. Stuck in ice, not only was the tentacle unable to move, but also much easier to damage. The ice shattered and the tentacle flopped down to the ground.
Squall wasn't sure if it was done for or not, and even if it was, that didn't solve the bigger problem of the thing that the limb belonged to. Stepping away from the tentacle (if that thing could still move, he sure as hell wasn't going to be caught near it), he turned his attention to the two girls.
"...thanks," he said. People always did seem to pick the best times to just show up, didn't they?
