Nasuti Yagyu was too entranced with the giant body of coral in the middle of the plaza to really notice that she was soaking wet. At first she thought the chill she felt was one of wonder and ( Read more... )

[Unless otherwise noted, this will be Simon's face / head, regardless of icon used. Mask is off until otherwise noted.]

The townspeople might sleep, but there was always someone awake. And for Simon, adjusting to a life where he actually could afford to sleep was proving difficult. Which was why he'd signed up for so many late night patrols for the Defense Force and, in turn, happened to spot the new arrival. Granted, as accustomed as he was to sneaking about in the dark cityscape of Gotham City, she probably hadn't spotted him. Fortunately, he wasn't a threat. Unfortunately, he had yet to learn that suddenly speaking up just a few feet behind someone in the dark tended to scare that someone half to death.

"Here. Take this. It's too cold to stay wet."

Well, at least he'd brought a towel to give her, right? A nice fresh one, and more importantly, one kept indoors. So at least it would be somewhat warm. He also had the foresight to remove his mask- that in particular probably saved her at least one panic attack. And although his ( ... )

Nasuti did gasp, but fortunately for Simon, being chased by ancient corrupted warlords for a good six months or so did keep her on guard and--while maybe not prepared--expectant of just about anything. She made a quick glance over her shoulder before turning around completely, and took a single step forward.

Right. It was cold here, wasn't it? All at once, Nasuti became acutely aware of her surroundings. It was chilly, the giant mass in the middle of the plaza was coral. She took a glace upwards, and saw that--contrary to all logic, her first suspicion was correct. She was underwater in some sort of reverse-aquarium.

"Thank you." Nasuti gave pause for a moment before taking the towel, but kept an eye on the fellow as she wrapped it around her shoulders. "I'm surprised to see anyone here this late at night."

Unfortunately Vatheon has regular sleeping hours- or as regular as can be expected. It's not an easy task to find someone running about late at night.

Well, except for one nearby cafe. The lights inside are still softly lit, revealing a warm inside. There's hardly anyone inside, except for one tattooed, red headed youth. His attention is focused entirely on some spread papers, but he looks up when his Eevee starts yapping at the door. When he sees the wet girl, Lea just grins and disappears in the back. He's gone for just a moment and returns with a steaming cup of hot chocolate along with a warm fluffy towel. Opening the door, he calls out.

"Hey! You're not going to get any answers if you just wander around like a lost chick. C'mon in. I'll treat you right."

Nasuti spotted the soft glow, and like an witless moth, started gravitating toward it. Her mind was numb, still taken aback from the sudden change of scenery. But then again, what was she supposed to do? It was against her nature to sit and wait for her to be found. She needed to get her bearings on where she'd ended up, and start devising a tactic to best ensure survival.

Typically this meant finding the Troopers and regrouping. But by the looks of things, she couldn't be certain they were even here.

The glow belonged to a cafe, which appeared to be the only thing open at this time of night. Was it some sort of izakaya? Not typically her scene, but if they were anything like the ones back home, they wouldn't be unsafe ( ... )

"Hey, it's no problem." Shrugging, Lea just leans against the doorway, items still held out. Arden is still at his ankles, practically bouncing with the urge to just charge through and greet the stranger. "Phoenix Nest is open any time. But tonight it's just me. You wanna come in?"

He jerks his head towards the inside of the cafe. Although it seems a bit too lax to be much of a cafe, composed mostly of comfortable looking couches and armchairs and coffee tables. There are a few tables, but those are nearer to the back or outside.

"I'll make you something, if you want."

Nasuti's eyes divert to the items the man was holding, arms outstretched in her direction. She gave a polite, thankful nod, and took them. "Is that the name of this cafe?" She looked up a little bit, getting a careful glimpse of the establishment. Glancing over his shoulder, she observes that the interior looks inviting, and, for what it was worth, considerably warmer than the outdoors. She didn't hesitate any further for civility's sake, and stepped inside.

"You're too kind, sir. But I'm afraid I'm as broke as I am lost..." Even if she had her credit cards on her, the odds that this place shared the currency of from whence she came seemed slim, to say the very least...

One person who stayed out at odd hours? Sirius Black. Although he knew it sometimes messed with Shin's sleeping schedule when he kept odd hours, he just hadn't been able to sleep. So, in an effort to spare his boyfriend some peace, he'd slipped out the back door as Padfoot and just hadn't bothered to change back.

When he found another soaking newcomer he contemplated changing back but decided, for now, to stay as he was. Plucking a towel from a stand nearby that had already closed, the black dog approached the woman and held the towel up to he, attempting to keep it as dry as possible.

Nasuti's bewildered face lit up to a bright smile at the sight of the black canine that approached her with a towel. With a delighted gasp, she knelt to the ground and took the towel, extending a tentative hand to offer a stroking of his fur in repayment.

"Well, thank you! Aren't you a sweetheart!"

He leaned into her hand and wagged his tail. Padfoot never passed up a chance for being pet.
Nudging her hand he smiled up at her in an attempt to comfort her.

Nasuti gently stroked the fur of the dog, nearly forgetting about the towel he had handed her. "What're you doing wandering around this late at night? Don't you have a warm bed you belong in?"

"Touma, I want to keep looking around as much as you for the others, but we really should get back -"

The two young men were walking around Vatheon still despite having met up a few hours earlier, all at Touma's insistence. One or both of them was bound to detect a familiar presence, if one existed. The only problem with that logic was that neither of them expected one of their tagalong companions to show up - both of whom where completely human, and thus had no aura of their own.

"I haven't even asked everyone yet if you can spend the night, since you only just got here and don't have your own place yet..."

The entire time they'd been together, the conversation had largely been academic, sorting out the differences between what they knew and what Shin had experienced being in Vatheon for so long. They'd avoided personal topics altogether until now.

"If it isn't fine then I can find somewhere else to go."

Knowing Touma though that tended to mean a tree or a roof or wherever else he happened to fall. It wasn't like it was the healthiest thing yet it never actually stopped him. The Troopers still found him in random places when they all happened to meet up at Nasuti's place. Who happened to be right over there.

Suddenly Touma stopped walking completely, staring off in the direction he'd seen her.

"I think you should be aware that my idea to keep looking worked." Turning towards her, he headed off to where Nasuti was wandering. "Nasuti! Over here!"

Nasuti spun around at the sound of the familiar voice. Was she imagining things? She still didn't quite have her wits about her, so she wouldn't put it past her to start hearing voices that weren't there?

"...." She stopped and listened. Now there wasn't any more voice, only footsteps growing louder, which in her experience weren't necessarily the greatest thing to be hearing.

It took a moment for the sound of the voice and the memory of its owner connected in Nasuti's brain, and she finally spoke out, more hopeful than anything. "Touma?"

Shin could hardly believe it - Nasuti of all people? Here? He went after Touma anyway, catching sight of her when he stood to Touma's side. She looked about the same age he remembered her, so that was something to be grateful for. Between Touma and Nasuti, Shin suspected they'd be dissecting the situation any minute now.

"Hello to you too, Nasuti." He gave a little wave while he was at it. "I guess I should say welcome to Vatheon."
