Gracia was rather ecstatic when she left her apartment room. She had a sort of skip in her step, and there was this obvious sort of renewed vigor in her demeanor. Although she was saddened immensely when she did not find Magoichi in the city (adding to the fact that she was still coming to terms with the idea that he may not have survived that battle⎯and really, when would she ever admit it? She said it then and she'll say it now; she can feel him. So he's not dead. He can't be), the blow was softened when she started speaking to her father. Or at least, another version of him.
As she traversed the streets and alleys of Vatheon, passing through numerous houses and shops with wide eyes and an excited expression etched on her youthful face, she couldn't help but wonder more and more about him⎯how different he seemed to be. He was, as Lord Motochika had put it, emotional and sensitive. However, the father in her time and the father she's met now were both, still, very intelligent and noble! There was that similarity. And even if she knew that no matter how cold the father in her time seemed to be on the outside, he was really very warm and inviting when all prying eyes were turned away. The Mitsuhide in Vatheon was just more open to that feeling of warmth. There was hardly any rigid pretense to him. It was strange, and she was definitely still getting used to everything, but what made it easier was the simple fact that he was her father, above all else. She'll have time to discuss what happened to him and Lord Motochika later on, when they finally met face-to-face.
...Speaking of which. Gracia stopped mid-step and took a good look around her. She wasn't in the park, was she? She frowned a bit, and then continued on her way. If this was any other situation, she wouldn't mind not knowing where to go⎯that was the exciting part of a journey, right? But she was asking her father to wait for her, and it was rude to let someone wait unnecessarily. Gracia hurried along, and eventually happened upon her destination (though there was a good long delay before that happened. She admittedly got distracted with some restaurants she passed by). She hadn't spotted him yet, so she took this time to walk around and stare at the trees, wondering how plants could grow in a bubble of air underneath the beautiful ocean.
She was unaware that her father was seated along the slight distant stretch of grass behind her.
