I did the same thing, but from the other end of the channel.
My mom used to work for AA, and on one of the many free flights, I was given a "tour" of the cockpit (ya know, back when it wasn't locked all the time). For departure, the pilot handed me a headset and fed me lines to say to ATC.
Other than the initial surprise, the tower dealt with it, and we took off smoothly.
Exactly, he was just saying what his dad said. The dad and kid probably thought it was fun and had there been any issue the dad could have completely taken over immediately to handle it. No one can ever have any fun anymore. Now the kid has to feel like crap because his dad got fired. WTH?
Our kids have all flown our plane, and the pilot could take over at any time there is trouble, you just have to be logical and reasonable about things.
