Well, ok, I haven't been updating as much as I wanted, because I'm bad and forgot. But anyway.
It occured to me that I hadn't really mentioned much about Shivna and her injury lately. She's healed up so super-beautifully! Here's a progression of photos through the months of healing.
2/7/11, when I first saw it. Severed tendon is visible.
3/1/11, during stall rest and bandage changes.
7/29/11. Still partially furless, but sosoSO much better!
I need to find someone to go with me to the barn more often, because I'd like to get her slowly started under saddle, but that's really not something I'm willing to begin when I'm all alone on a farm where there's just about no one around if something were to happen. Here's hoping I can rope some accomplices into helping me out soon. ;)
Sarge's training is going well, too, for the most part, if a little slower than I'd maybe like due to the constraints of what I have to work with-- no decent-sized ring, limited-to-no trailer access, lack of saddle, etc. But I'll be getting a saddle on trial soon that I'm pretty psyched about... Fingers crossed that it'll fit. Need to call up a sort-of-local saddler to see if he'll be able to come out when I get the saddle on trial.
Hooray, ponies.
