Kittyface had a vet appointment today. She'll be 15 in October and she's lost a bit of weight, so I figured I'd get bloodwork done. They found a heart murmur on one side, so that double-confirmed the necessity of that. That aside, she's in really fantastic health and no one ever guesses she's an older cat. She's still spry and active and bossy as ( Read more... )

The bloodwork was $200-- the total bill for checkup, bloodwork, fecal, & rabies booster ended up around $350. Ouch.

Considering I'm pretty close to the Princeton area in Jersey, I probably shouldn't be surprised!

That sounds about comparable to what we got charged here. :( When we first moved to WV, our cats were extremely stressed, which wasn't surprising. However, after about a week and a half, one of my cats still wasn't eating or drinking really, so we took him to the vet to see if there was anything they could see ( ... )

Yeah, those prices certainly sound like the exception, unfortunately!

My total bill today came to nearly $350 for the checkup, rabies booster, fecal test & bloodwork. At least they also told me I no longer have to do yearly distemper shots...

I guess that $198 for bloodwork could be a conceivable jump, then. Glad to hear I'm at least not getting taken unreasonably for all I'm worth, hah!

Yeah, just the basic physical where I go is about $60 or so. Rabies vaccine was $35, fecal was $35... at least they said we don't have to do distemper every year anymore.

Funniest part? My vaccines & check-up for each horse typically comes to less. Go figure.

Sounds a little high, but not surprising considering your area. Also depends on what they checked-considering your cat's age and the fact that she's losing weight, a thyroid test wouldn't be unreasonable in addition to the normal CBC and chemistry. T4s are not usually included with those, so I'm wondering if that's what bumped it up.

On the bill it's listed as "Senior Wellness Blood", so that's probably it. Makes sense!
