He made Telly Savalas a detective and thus created Kojak.
He also wrote one of my favorite movies of all time, Judgement at Nuremburg, which kicks ass and kicks you in the crotch about the 'banality of evil' and the war trials following the fall of the Nazi regime. A must see.

Edit: Okay, didn't realize he was important enough to stall the entire internet. Was not a fan of the actor, but looked forward -and still am- to viewing The Dark Knight. Went with my man to see Alien versus Predator: Requiem on Christmas night.
I advise all to not waste their money. Only the Hellboy 2 trailer made the trip slightly worthwhile. -
